Hi.

I am planning to update my GPU to a different one in a price range with max. price about 250 US dollars. Mainly for gaming. Was thinking maybe i can get a better GPU if used.

For new ones i thought of taking either GIGABYTE AMD Radeon RX 590 GAMING an MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X. And is the 1660 worth grabbing ?

The RX 590 is the superior card here, but it's not worth 250$, it's pricing should not be higher than $220 otherwise you're better off going with the RX580 for cheaper and just OC.

Depends on pricing but if you want a brand new nVidia card the cheapest GTX 1660 can be a senseful purchase, it should always perform equal or better than the RX 590 depending on the game.

if you wait a little while the RX 5500 should be out at ~$150 and the potentiall RX 5500XT seems like it would suit you well here

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

1660 Ti would be an excellent buy if you can spare an extra $30: Amazon Link. There's also used ones listed on that page for ~$260.

There's been some excellent coverage of the 1660 Ti from several tech youtubers such as Linus, jayztwocents, and gamers nexus if you're looking for some performance analysis.

If you buy used, there are some things to watch out for. Buying used is a great way to save money and most of the time if you follow precautions you can get a deal.

First, don't buy anything that seems like too good of a deal. It is too good to be true. You will not reasonably save more than probably $50 buying used unless some mad girlfriend is selling her ex boyfriend's stuff or something.

Don't buy anything from Industry City California. It's where a lot of Chinese ripoffs come from.

Don't buy anything used for mining.

Make sure they have at least 2 or 3 pics of the card

Ask them if they did anything to the card like replacing the thermal paste. I would personally steer clear of any used card that was taken apart but that's just my personal preference. I don't trust 99% of people on eBay who modify their stuff.

Make sure they have a good reputation and READ THE REVIEWS on other things.
