Hey guys,

So after building my new rig (in sig), I've started running into a weird issue where windows hangs. After looking in Event Viewer, there's always a specific error before it happens.

Before the freeze, I get a few variations of the error, here it is:

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">- <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-FilterManager" Guid="{F3C5E28E-63F6-49C7-A204-E48A1BC4B09D}" /> <EventID>4</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>3</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2014-02-04T22:29:25.339205000Z" /> <EventRecordID>5176063</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="4" ThreadID="316" /> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>Chase-Desktop</Computer> <Security UserID="S-1-5-18" /> </System>- <EventData> <Data Name="FinalStatus">0xc01c0016</Data> <Data Name="DeviceVersionMajor">6</Data> <Data Name="DeviceVersionMinor">1</Data> <Data Name="DeviceNameLength">5</Data> <Data Name="DeviceName">CFRMD</Data> <Data Name="DeviceTime">2012-07-17T00:05:37.000000000Z</Data> <Data Name="ExtraStringLength">23</Data> <Data Name="ExtraString">\Device\HarddiskVolume4</Data> </EventData> </Event>

And here's the plainer text version

File System Filter 'CFRMD' (Version 6.1, ‎2012‎-‎07‎-‎17T00:05:37.000000000Z) failed to attach to volume '\Device\HarddiskVolume4'. The filter returned a non-standard final status of 0xc01c0016. This filter and/or its supporting applications should handle this condition. If this condition persists, contact the vendor.

Anyone have any idea of what could be causing this? It's been stumping me for awhile.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Not too sure if this is actually your issue, but hey, is worth a shot, it roughly matches what you're having, soo, try that maybe?

what the fix in the thread is :

The CFRMD driver is not related to CIS but to Comodo System Utilities.

It looks like the CFRMD driver from CSU is still around. To uninstall it start the command prompt and excecute the following the two commands:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
start devmgmt.msc

This will open Device Manager. Under View choose Show Hidden Devices. Then go to Non Plug and Play Drivers. Look up CFRMD driver, select it, right click and choose to uninstall. Reboot when requested. Before taking these action make a system restore point just in case.
