The second to last pic. has my Black MSI R7970 in it. Having audio issues with the card. have 13.4 catalyst driver installed from AMD. Sound turns on and off with both of the GPUs. Install my Creative sound card to use Digital out instead for Pioneer 7.1 set up. Using height channels. Works well that way. Don't know if anyone else has issues with HDMI audio out. Need to clean it up a little. Rushed to get working.

Audio works fine on sound card. Can't get it to work properly on the HDMI out on the GPU through monitor speakers. Audio keeps turning on & off with the TV I have. Did not do that when I had my XFX HD 6870 900M 2GB in it. Any advice?

Should clarify

Audio problem with R7970's HDMI output. Audio turns on & off at random. Mother board (at least through headphones) and sound card are good.

Have some Cougar Vortex 120 & 140mm fans on the way. That should quiet thing up in this build. Have used them in the passed. They are quiet, & can turn slow. Have good CFM too. 70.5 to 119.5 CFM for the 120 mm fan. I'll find out how good they work in this set up. Look forward to uploading more pics.

Hers some pics of the Cougar fans the I'll be using. I'll be using 2 120mm, & 2 140 mm. 120 PWMs for the H100. 2 140mm for the front intake. Already have a 120 mm Cougar fan on the rear exhaust.

Wonder what Linus thinks of these fan & any viewer's as well. I know the 120's at least to be almost dead silent. Specs for 120mm acoustical noise is 17.3 dB (a). Spec on 140s is 19.2 dB @ 1200 RPM max. Both flow 70.5 CFM. I'll see how well they work. I can hear the Corsair fans that are installed right now. The 7970 hushed it up allot. But I can still hear the fans. The 650 D build that I did had the same set up except for the front fan. The front fan was a 200 mm Coolermaster something flow. Don't remember the name. I'll next post pics when I get the fans installed, & some cable management done.

The 140s in the front are quiet after adding the resister that came in the kit. I also did some wire managing with the sound card. I think it looks a little better. Don't know if this build can be better for spec. Works well so far. Played Bioshock Infinite. Played well. Lowest in 40's, Highest around 120, & average in 90's. It's so hard to tell with that game. No crashing to desktop in middle of something like Windows 7 would do. I mean playing and suddenly stop, minimizes, to desktop, paused. Click game icon every time & unpause game. Window 8 has seemed to work better so far for gaming.

Don't really get the mix of colors in the build but who am I to judge since it's your build.

Looks kinda messy in the back and I can see it but hey the 300R isn't that great of a case for cable management so I say you did your best. So good job!

Decently speced for the most part except for maybe the GPU. You might be interested in the 700 series from NVIDIA that might be launching soon.

Think My Radion Red card would look better. But I swapped them to trouble shoot audio. As for cables, the case is a bit hard to manage in 5 minutes anyway here and there.

  • 10 months later...

Audio on card was a driver issue. Fixed with a recent revision. Didn't do that on Windows 7 with My Sabertooth 99FX build. Almost identical except for motherboard. Had same issue with the HG 7970 audio on that. Now audio is working fine.
