Hey Linus Tech Tips,

I'm looking to build a new gaming PC, and these are the specs I have picked out on pcpartpicker. My goal is to play all modern games (Borderlands 3, Cyberpunk 2077, etc.) on high to ultra settings. Tell me what you think.

You will need a CPU cooler. The 9700K doesn't come with a stock cooler.
Do you already have a case?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

I have a Noctua NH-D14 and I have a Fractal Design case. Anything else I would need to know? Would this rig run basically everything at high to ultra settings for the next few years?

Hey Linus Tech Tips,

You don't need to spend that much

for sure get an utlra wide monitor.

If you want to do video editing or streaming get the R7 3700X, the 6 core is fine otherwise.

Damn, should have waited like 2 weeks to buy my RX 5700 Pulse, RIP.

Get a bit nicer mouse IMO, you can get like $40 mechanical keyboards now.

Can get a windows 10 key on ebay for like $5.

Probably around that range. Maybe November.

It's already in the build, but it has it's like part number instead of the Monoprice Zero-G name

also don't buy your PC in parts, and Pay Pal/Ebay has 0% interest financing.

Ask again 1-2 weeks before you're gonna buy the parts, prices and availability will change by then.

He can still pick up the monitor and slap an RX 5700 XT into his current system in the meantime though.

If you're not building now, don't bother looking at builds. As has been said, pricing will change, as will parts availability.

Save your money and build on Black Friday. It's the best time to build a PC.

Price isn't a huge concern for me. I can spend upwards of 2k if I needed. I'm just wondering if these specs would run current and upcoming AAA games at 60+ FPS at high to ultra settings.

the 5700 XT will be perfectly fine at 1440p, it also has it's image upscaler to cheat out more fps in the future by running at 75% native resolution and sharpening the rest.

So it's pretty much guaranteed to tackle modern AAA games then?

It's basically a $350-400 1080ti/2070

It'll be fine for 21:9 1440p at high settings, basically just add 20% more fps to any 4k benchmark.

Could also always buy the Nitro + if you want an ultra quiet GPU, though the power color and pulse are fine anyways.
