Any reason not to go AMD for gaming and

Is there any real reason not to go AMD for a gaming/photo/video PC over intel anymore? I plan to buy a 3900X or 3800x once the price is where it should be. I am undecided on what chip set board i should get X570 or X470.

The X570 boards sure do cost a lot but they have gen 4 pci, 2.5 Gps lan on them which would be great for large file transfer but i could probably get a NIC card cheaper and i would have to buy a new switch.

 

I have never owned a AMD CPU. I have had there video cards but always ran into driver issues on release day so i have bought nvidia ever since at the moment i have a RTX 2080 Super.

 

 My 6700k is so slow doing x265!

The X570 is better.

No reason, really for AMD

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

The current Ryzen processors are great with X265, the 3700X would be quite the upgrade.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

If you are editing H.264 or H.265 you can use the iGPU on intel non-F CPUs to accelerate the workflow. Not applicable to Red RAw and NEAT video, though. That's for Premier. After effects makes good use of Intel low latency but Photoshop, illustrator and other editing applications like FCPX, Sony Vegas or Davinchi Resolve are just better on Zen2.

 

For gaming, intel only makes sense with a 2080 Ti at 1080p 240Hz

 

In short, AMDs Zen2 is better in 90% of cases

If pricing is completely screwed against AMD in your market, dont buy them. If you can benefit from Quicksync export, dont go AMD or the Intel F CPUs / Skylake-X CPUs.
