Posted September 19, 2019 So when you install new clients for minecraft (like forge (for mods)) you have to run a .jar file to get the version installed, now i accidently clicked 'open with' and 'notepad', and it didnt let me run it, so i installed jave thinking that would do it but now it shows up as a notepad file when i download it, does anyone know what i could do ??? You then need to browse to find the Java program in either C:\Program Files -OR- C:\Program Files (x86) and find 'java.exe' and select that Current Network Layout: Current Build Log/PC: Prior Build Log/PC:
 At this point it MIGHT populate with extra apps so scroll down again and see if it says Look for another app on this PC and click that. It should be in blue at the bottom. At this point you'll see something like this: From here, in the address bar go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\ Then find the latest jre folder which should be jre1.8.0_221 or similar. Click to enter that folder and then open the bin folder and you should see a 'java.exe' file in there that's about 180KB or so Select java.exe and then click Open and it should open the app with java Current Network Layout: Current Build Log/PC: Prior Build Log/PC:
