Ethernet Connection Slooooooooooow

Hi, so I just realized that my gaming PC's connection has been slower than my gaming laptop & school laptop when it comes to internet access. Using wifi or my desktop's ethernet cable makes both of my laptops have my max internet speed, which is clearly what I want on my gaming PC. I did a speed test on google and apparently my desktop's internet speed is only 40 mbps, while my laptops have around 280 mbps with and without ethernet cables. My PC has no wifi card, so I can't do a speed test without the ethernet cable.

I have:

  • reinstalled my network card drivers
  • used CCleaner to check for malware
  • used my antivirus (Norton Security Online) to check for malware
  • reset my network settings on my PC
  • tried multiple ethernet cables
  • turned off/disconnected any other electronics from wifi

None of these have made an improvement whatsoever. My router/modem setup is maximized for gaming (tbh I forgot the specs and I'm too lazy to check them), and my network card is a Realtek pcie gbe family controller.

What version of Windows are you on? 1803/1903? Someone was here not long ago with an identical issue.
