Nitro+ 5700XT

pstarlord

Just saw the GN Review of the Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT and ohhhh maaaa goddddd, it will be mine.  Oh yes, it will be mine.  haha. So glad I slept in on the day the Radeon VII was released because I planned on getting one, but held off.

I'm planning a pretty fun upgrade of my gaming system this year to jump from 1080 too 1440 and I think this is going to be the GPU for me.  I'll admit, I'm becoming a bit of an AMD...I wouldn't say fan boy, but I'm certainly more inclined to support AMD over Nvidia and Intel because I always root for the underdog.

My current GPU is a Sapphire NItro+ Vega 56, and I've loved it.  The funny thin is, I got a great deal on it for $500 new on a black friday sale last year and apparently the N+ 5700XT should be releasing at $440!!!  WOW.

Anyway, I'm stoked about it, anyone else hopping on the Nitro train with me? Also, I know for a few dollars more I can get a 2070 Super, but Steve brought up a good point in his review.  You pay $440 for the best 5700XT, best thermals, noise, and overclocking capability (if I remember right, they got their clock to 1950 and the RAM to 950)  Or you can buy the entry level 2070 Super.  For me, for what I think is worth my money, I'll take the Nitro.

Anyone else excited about these?

I really doubt the 5700xt is faster than the Vega 56 by a margin that's worth upgrading to.

Every benchmark comparisons I've seen has it quite a bit higher than the Vega 56.  Especially in titles I play, at the settings I'm shooting for.  I LOVE my Vega 56, don't get me wrong, I'm going to keep it in another build. :)

btw I set my line of "worthy upgrade" to new GPU pushing twice the frame rate as the old one, that's why. Otherwise imo it's not that big of a gain for the cost.

Okay, odd flex, but I didn't ask what you thought was a "worthy upgrade."  I asked if anyone was interested in a certain product coming out, that I happen to be interested in and fairly excited about.  If you're not, that's fine.  I didn't start this thread to talk the semantics of if an upgrade is "worthy" or not.

I saw the review from kitguru. Same performance as Red Devil but 50W more power consumption out of the box. But the card looks better. I wanted to buy one too, but I don't know now.

For me, IF it were between the PC 5700XT Red Devil and the Sapphire 5700XT Nitro+, I'd go for whichever were available first. Or, IF both were available at the same time, I'd go for whichever that has longer warranty and/or lower price.....in my neck of the woods, PC offers a 3 year warranty with their cards, Sapphire only 2 years, so it's a no brainer which I'd pick. The Nitro+ is also a few dollars more than the Red Devil here, but the warranty period difference tilts my preference heavily in favor of the Red Devil.

The stock is going to be limited again so don't expect to get it unless you are one of the first few. The red devil sold out in an instant

Yea, marginal performance difference and actually Red Devil is quieter! Nitro looks good, but so does Red Devil :)

My old GPU?  No, I give my old items to friends who could use them.  I'm building a gaming PC for a friend of mine right now, my Vega 56 will end up going into his PC.

I am not excited about the 5700XT. But if there was a 5800XT/5900XT that would compete with the 2080S/2080TI and happened to use the same design as the Nitro+, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Sapphire has been a fantastic brand for AMD hardware. I remember upgrading my GPU with a Sapphire card way back in the day for DOOM 3.
