Upgrading GPU

Go to solution Solved by pstarlord,

It may be an awful/funny name, but that is a slick looking card IMO.  If I weren't such a Sapphire Nitro fanboy, I'd probably end up getting the THICC one.

To the OP, yes, it's worth it.  The cooling solution is leaps and bounds better, and it'll be much much quieter.  The performance you see on the screen might not be a huge difference, but your experience will be better because you wont be hearing the blower fan all the time.  Because they are smaller, they tend to "hum" at a higher pitch, making it more noticeable and more annoying.  The larger fans on the 3rd party cards don't need to spin as fast to move the same amount of air, and their size makes the hum a lower pitch.  Their size and the fact that there are two of them makes the cooling more efficient, so the fans themselves won't need to be on as much, or at top speed as often as the blower style. As we all know, keeping the components in your machine cool is vital, and very important for those long drawn out gaming sessions that I'm sure we can all relate to.

Alright boys, ive been looking around for a new card and was wondering if someone could offer me some advice. From what ive concluded, it seems best for me to grab a 5700 xt. I was deciding on snagging a THICC II (https://www.newegg.com/xfx-radeon-rx-5700-xt-rx-57xt828d6/p/N82E16814150825) however, does anyone know if the card is worth, especially compared to just saving some cash and grabbing a reference? Thanks!

Specs so far:

Ryzen 3600

ASUS Prime  X570-P

16gb 3200mhz

I know I thought it was hilarious. I didn't want to grab a reference because in my opinion, its so dumb looking with that dent lol. Yeah, I just didnt know if anyone had any XT they recommend. I want the red devil but im impatient and dont wanna wait for the chance of it being in stock lol

"XFX RX 5700 XT THICC". What a god damn awful name.

Anyway, stay away from AMD reference coolers. They're extremely loud and inefficient. It will sound like a jet engine and heat the core according to one.

I actually recommend the ASRock one, simply because it has a 3 year warranty as opposed to everyone else's 2 year warranty.
