Blender is an open source modelling program. You can use it for animations, but it'll take some time

If you learn to use it, yes. It's free, so doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Blender is your best bet, just keep in mind that it can be very time consuming. There's a steep learning curve if you've never done this before. Lots of good tutorials on YouTube, I took a Lynda.com (paid) course on Blender and it was pretty helpful.

yeah i know animating is very time consuming i just hope i have enough time to make one that's as long as a song i'm working on

Well, for starters, Blender has the whole 3DFX pipeline included, including post processing of images or video, camera tracking, and a built in photo-realistic render-er (SketchUp requires a third-party like VRay).

Once you learn the interface and get past the basics, it's a breeze. Took me about a few hours to really understand everything and how it works, and now I can model intricate buildings and weapons by myself. (Texturing is a bit more difficult)
