Is Buying an RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC With a $1500 Budget a Good Idea?

So for the past few weeks I've been planning on building my first pc within the next few months, and I want the best performance I can get. Looking at an i7 6700k. The gpu (Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC) being priced at a little more than $650 where I'm located seems like a logical alternative in my inexperienced eyes, but I'm rather unsure.

 

Would it be worth it/a good idea to get cheaper components in exchange for a better cpu and gpu?

 

If I can make any improvements in any way, please let me know

Hey, no sweat. Is there any particular reason you would be getting a 6700k? A ryzen 5 3600 is a better price to performance value compared to the 6700k. Its also much newer too. The 2070 super should be fine with a ryzen 5 3600, and im pretty sure it would be fine with the 6700k as well. Oh and, where are you located, because $650 is a lot for a 2070 super.

I'm not convinced the RTX cards are a good idea at any budget unless you're getting something powerful enough that nothing else can offer the same level (ie, 2080 Ti, and actually that's it).  The whole lineup is really overpriced imo and they're just betting on people to forget this and accept it.  The 5700 and 5700 XT are also overpriced, but a better deal by comparison, and if you can find 10 series cards like a 1080 Ti for a fair price, that would be even better.

I live in southern Sweden. No specific reason to get a 6700k, I just don't really know what's best for me, specifically with my budget.

Thats a very odd system to get considering the 6700k is an "old" CPU 

 

And the 2070s isnt super powerful for that budget.

 

 

But since you live in Sweden it would be way more helpful if you prpvided the budget in SEK

As I mentioned, I'm a newcomer and really don't know much of what to get.

I'm not so fixated on the gpu either, is there a specific one I should buy whilst taking my budget into consideration?

An aftermarket 5700xt if you can get it for a good price is also a good and cheaper alternative. That being said I do think the 2070s is the best bang for your buck GPU in the RTX line up. You can spend 200 more for a 2080s but you only get like 8% more performance. So your options are basically the 2070s or 2080ti if you are looking at higher end gpus

With your 15.000 kr budget, I'd look at a 5700xt or a rtx 2070 super. If you want ray-tracing get the rtx 2070 super, but in my opinion the 5700xt is a better option, as they perform similarly, but the 5700xt is cheaper. Its like a 800kr difference(I took the difference from the most expensive 5700xt and the cheapest rtx 2070 super), but make sure not to get the MSI evoke oc, as it has a cooling flaw with one of the thermal pads.

i think for this gen of gpu, it's either the 2060 super for 1440p or 2080 super for 4k, it's kinda hard to find a case where the 2070S does what a 2060S won't do, maybe 1080p/144hz on higher settings?

 

either way i'd go with a r5 3500(coming out)/3600 with a 2060S if you wanna save some money. otherwise 3700x+whatever you can fit in for that extra performance, really can't go too wrong this gen.

A combination of it being late at night and a presumption that the budget would work. Tho the tomahawk max is certainly a good option aswell
