I'd like to buy a 9900K so that means I need something that supports a 9th gen cpu. I'm not sure if I should go with Z370 or Z390 or what the real difference is apart from some USB 3 and WiFi stuff?

I love my W7 and never have any issues with it but it seems there are USB issues with the Z390 because of Intel, so whats the best solution to keep Windows 7, get a 9900K, and have everything work as it should?

I hear some people buy the Z390 motherboards with a 9900K and then buy something like this to fix the issue: https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Superspeed-Ports-PCI-Expansion/dp/B00FPIMICA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1546969217&sr=1-1&keywords=Inateck+Superspeed+7+Ports+PCI-E+to+USB+3.0+Expansion+Card

NOTE: NO GAMING ON THIS. ITS A WORKSTATION.

I just really really don't wanna go Windows 10 or Linux since I don't know it well. Any ideas?

It's really easy to make Windows 10 look and behave like Windows 7 and considering that we are months away from Windows 7 support ending you might want to consider doing the switch sooner than later specially with how you're planning on buying an i9 9900K now.

It'd probably work out fine, but running from Windows 10 is coming to an end my Windows 7 brother. Support ends in January, but that isn't the end of the world of course. But programs and games will most likely be dropping support like flies soon after. What I'm saying is you could spend a little while longer in paradise, or just go ahead and face it. So it's either 10 or Linux at this point. I'm going down the Linux route, but if you must have Windows, get 10 LTSC and mod the absolute hell out of it!

i7 2600k @ 5GHz 1.49v - EVGA GTX 1070 ACX 3.0 - 16GB DDR3 2000MHz Corsair Vengence

Asus p8z77-v lk - 480GB Samsung 870 EVO w/ W10 LTSC - 2x1TB HDD storage - 240GB SATA SSD w/ W7 - EVGA 650w 80+G G2

3x 1080p 60hz Viewsonic LCDs, 1 glorious Dell CRT running at anywhere from 60hz to 120hz

Model M w/ Soarer's adapter - Logitch g502 - Audio-Techinca M20X - Cambridge SoundWorks speakers w/ woofer

There is no reason for anyone or me to switch if they don't want to. Support ending means nothing to me. I never had or use an anti-virus and I never get any trojans, viruses, etc. Just use a little common sense. As for 'security', I rather have a few security holes that will most likely not be an issue then to have W10 with all the forced updates, privacy issues, 100+ more running processes, etc.

But I don't wanna buy this board and they don't have drivers for USB, so like last time I tried this with Z370, I had to return and buy a new board.

You have a very biased and wrong understanding of Windows 10 and yes nobody is forcing you to switch OS although you also can't expect it to be supported by hardware and software forever.

This is not about security, it's about simplicity sake... like I said it's very easy to make Win10 be essentially Win7 if you'd bother doing it and there will be a time you'll be forced to therefore instead of being aggressive towards inevitable change you might just accept aid in doing such change be as less of an issue as possible.

Good luck mate.
