Upgrading from a C2D E4500 2.2GHZ to a FX-4300 4.0GHZ

Hey friends,

I have just built myself a new rig

Following are the specs of both my old one as well as the new one

OLD-

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ

2 GB 667Mhz RAM

Zotac MOBO

MSI GTS450

NEW-

AMD FX-4300 4.0GHZ 4-Core

4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz

ASRock Motherboard

Same GPU

What kind of a performance benefit can I expect from this upgrade. I mainly upgraded because I felt that the ancient CPU was bottlenecking my GPU. Also the setup had gotten quite old. So please answer this question of mine. A big thanks!

thanks for the fast reply!
if we consider that the bottleneck is removed by the upgrade, then what kind of graphical settings and resolution can i expect to game on, on this very card. I have a 19-inch LCD with a max resolution of 1400x900. So, 1080p is out of question.

@fredey the real reason for the upgrade was, as i said, i was getting a feeling that my C2D was quite heavily bottlenecking my GPU and this was becoming more and more apparent with every passing game! also, don't u think that the old setup is a bit too old for the latest games?

well its a good upgrade but you should have saved some more cash and get fx 6300 but its ok. however don`t expect miracles with the gtx 450. sell it and get a gtx 460/560/hd 7770 maybe?however on medium with latest games should be fine

@s3ns3 although ur quite right abt the fx6300 but y'see the price difference between the two is quite significant in my country to make me consider the fx4300 and abt GPU, yeah ur probably right, but i just want the card to last me another 6-7 months or so and then i'll get myself a GTS750 or something. :)

well you can look at gts450 benchmarks and see what it can do. If you could save some more a hd7770 or a r7 260 would also give you a lot more power!

I think they ditched the GTS naming as it was getting confusing (GT, GTS, GTO, GTX, GS).

I reccomend a R9 270 / GTX760, generally that will offer better sweetspot value.
