so i found a keyboard(GigaByte Force K81(for €35) with kailh red switches and what i've heard is that the switches are really bad. Does anyone know if they're still bad because the only article i could find were the ones back in 2015 and 2016. Please let me know if you have any experience with Kailh red switches and or the GigaByte Force K81

edit: i mainly wanna play csgo and osu on it

They will be fine. They are not bad, kailh box switches are great, but regular kailh red are fine also.K81 is a decent board, not amazing, not horrible.

There are many different types of Kailh switch series, there's the Kailh PG1518/PG1511 platform which range from terrible to quite good depending on what tooling/batch/year it was made. There's also the really good Box switches which are superior to the mx platform in every way.

Can't help with that sadly. @geo3 @Dissitesuxba11s maybe you know is there a way to do that?

Wow, now that is a tough question. From my understanding is that Kailh PG1511 series and Kailh PG1518 series are almost the same minus a minor change in the top of the housing (Source). From the Gigabyte website product page, it looks like the stem is your typical Cherry MX stem so it would fall under either the PG1511 or PG1518 series of switches. I don't think there is any way the average consumer can determine the batch/year that a specific board comes with other than going directly to the manufacturer. If there is an easier, someone please let me know.

My verdict: Go for it. At that price point and the fact that you will be mainly gaming with it, you won't notice the minute details (like key wobble, scratchiness, pinging, etc.) that users point out to determine switch quality.

oh okay, ordering it tomorrow morning so that it will be there midday, thanks for the help. and to all the other also thanks for helping me out :D

edit: it might be the PG1518 because of the fact that the PG1511 have a lifespan between 50 - 70 mil clicks and gigabyte specifies 70 mil instead of the minimum 50 mil (doesn't mean it is the PG1518 for sure tho)
