PSU requirements for RX 5700

Ryzen 2600X

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying an rx 5700, but the PSU requirements are a little high, at 600w? I have a 550w PSU.

Just asking if I really need a 600w PSU. The card in question is the PowerCooler Red Devil RX 5700.

Thanks

Hey there!

Unfortunately PSU power requirements are misleading. You don't need 600W, but they ask for that much in their page because there are a lot of very bad PSUs out there that won't actually output the power they're rated to.

So really the question is, is my PSU good enough rather than how many watts. If you let us know which model it is we can give you a green light or otherwise direct you to some cheap options :)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

just adding a bit, 550w in general should be fine, just don't go too ham on the oc.

If you’re not sure I recommend putting your parts into pc part picker, adding at least 100w to what ever numbering you get, and picking up a gold + rated psu that provides your need power.

No, 600W is excessive, with a 2600X you'll barely even hit 300W of usage for the whole system

Hi guys, thanks for the input! I didn't skimp out on the PSU, I have a Corsair RMX 2018 series, the RM550X, and it is 80+ Gold.

Hey guys, I have Corsair SF450 (80+ Gold), can this run a 5700 of even XT?

My CPU is i5 7600K (no OC). It's a ITX build in the Phanteks Evolv Shift, i'm also worried about the temps.

Now rocking a 1060 6GB.
