Disable the iGPU entirely in the BIOS.

FRAPS HATES MANTLE!

Well not really, but Fraps is Directx dependent and will not record the FPS with Mantle.

Are there any other alternative to FRAPS that can record frames min/max/avg and store it in a file like FRAPS (and of course must work with Mantle)

BTW, If you switched the API in BF4 to Mantle and FRAPS was on and you thought it was working fine with it, then that's wrong. You didn't change anything. When you change the API, you gotta restart the game to enable it, once you do you will see the FRAPS doesn't work.

Now I know about perfoverlay.drawfps 1 but I want something that can RECORD the FPS and store it on a file somewhere.

doesn't fraps record minecraft which is open gl

What CPU?

Phenom II x3 720 be paired with an 7850. I got the driver installed after a windows repair. I restored to 13.12 for now because Starswarm didn't want to work either :P I'm really excited for Mantle but I'll probably wait for my free copy of Thief before I try it again.

Star Swarm, Scenario SHMUP, i7 4770k@3.5GHz, Sapphire TriX 290, at 1080p: D3D 33.54 FPS vs. Mantle 52.59 FPS (+56.8%). With Mantle the FPS rarely dropped below 30 FPS, the observed minumum was around 20 FPS. With D3D the FPS was about a 3rd of the time below 20 with a minimum at 8.5.

I'm happy with the results but not overly excited because I think that this tech demo favours mantle as it contains so many individual agents (=starships). However it shows that Mantle frees up CPU resources that allows designers to make games with bigger battles and better AI.

Mantle could also mean that gamers might choose a cheaper CPU + an AMD high-end GPU over  mid-range CPU+GPU combination and receive better results overall. AMD's slower CPUs might sell better to gamers if they manage to communicate that fact.

I put my 7990 back into my PC for the lulz with mantle and got worse performance over my GTX 780 running on DirectX.

I think i'll wait until AMD fix their drivers before I make my final judgement however as Crossfire doesn't work on these new drivers, just like they haven't done for the past couple releases.
