aerogel for cpu thermals

i recently seen a video online about aerogel and its unbelievable thermal properties, was wondering if it was at all applicable as a cpu thermal paste replacement?

No. Thermal paste is a conductor, and aerogel is a insulator.

The point of thermal paste is to remove heat from the cpu as fast as possible, while aerogel would keep all the heat contained, so it would not be usable as thermal paste.

So it would be the opposite of thermal paste.

what properties would make it suitable as a thermal paste?

 

its hard and fragile that doesnt allow for it to fill gaps between the coldplate and ihs which is the purpose of thermal paste.

 

now the worst part about it is that it is not a good conductor. in fact its one of the worst conductors you can obtain.
