970 EVO Plus 512 GB or 860 EVO 250GB with 1TB HDD

Privatech
Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

How about buy a 660p or P1 or any of the HP EX series or hells pretty much anything else other than the overpriced Evo+ so you can double the capacity of the SSD at same price point?

Hello!

I was looking at my pc build and i realised some day my SSD wouldnt be able to hold all games especially the big ones like GTA V or Forza Horizon 4. I currently chose to go with Samsung 970 EVO Plus 512 GB because its speeds go to around 3400 MB/s. I would really like to play GTA V but its 72 GB. Should i just get the PC now with 512 GB and later buy a 1TB hard drive or get a slower SSD and 240 GB with 1TB HDD?

Get a big SATA  SSD.

970 EVOs don't load Windows much faster that a SATA SSD(I don't notice the difference). They are also no benefit to vanilla games. They only really make sense if all you have are SSDs with about the same speed.

My 2tb 970 EVO is for my modded open world games only. They have so much extra content that they get stutter on a SATA SSD.

For about the same price as a 512 EVO and a 1tb HDD you can get a 2tb SATA SSD and the setup will be a lot faster overall.

I've been going through the https://ssd.userbenchmark.com which has the SSDs you listed. They look really great but are the companies trustworthy. Is there anything bad about them. For example AData. I have heard of this company but never used their products.

2TB Samsung SSDs are really expensive and most of my budget is going to the graphics card. I'm looking for a max of 140 euros/dollars.

Yes, Intel, Crucial, SanDisk, Western Digital, Toshiba, HP, Sabrent... it's all "reliable trustworthy" brands.

The 970 Evo+ is a SSD for professional usage, you just want something for OS and games, you do not need the most expensive drive on the market at all.

Thanks for telling me. I found the Intel 660p is really cheap and fast and has 1TB. Im going for that. Its the same price for better performance. Samsung is sometimes overpriced.
