AMD Ryzen and Pro Tools

Has anyone tried Pro Tools with Ryzen? What's the compatibility? Especially Ryzen 3?

Ryzen is x86 based. There are no compatibility issues.

Ryzen 3(000) is out this year.

 

Zen 3 will come out next year.

What are you worried about exactly? Ryzen is an x86-64 CPU arch. There are literally no compatibility issues across Windows and Linux

My bad Ryzen 3 1200 2300 3200G. Ewwww people buy those things?

 

Yeeah You might wanna look into something like a 3600 because those cpu's are pretty slow.

I mean the 3900x for example, do you run Pro Tools with AMD?

Because fuxling Avid only tests their DAW with Intel Platforms and I have not had an AMD for 10 years.

This was the main reason I've been a bit hesitant to build my first non-Intel build. The fact that the clock speeds and core assignments would change constantly was scary, but you know what, it works. The only issue I encountered so far was when I was inserting an izotope de-noiser while playback was running and PT halted the playback and gave me the "CPU speed not enough blabla"-error. But I'm pretty sure that's more because of my crappy audio interface and it's ancient drivers.

 

So far I have worked on only the more simple projects with this PC, so not those with dozens of VI's or hundreds of tracks.

Everything is just super fast compared to my old Xeon 1230v3. From Haswell to Zen2, around the same price category, triple the bounce speed.
