Will RTX bottleneck me?

benjamin123

I'm currently running a 1800x

is it a good idea to get a 2080 super to go with the cpu?

only games that i play in 144fps is overwatch

I just need other games to look good on 60fps

ps. running a 1440p 144hz monitor

A 2070super or 2080 non super would be more than enough to achieve what you want.

you might as well go with a cheaper GPU and maybe grab a newer ryzen chip+ board.

something like 3600/3700x + B450 tomahawk +your GPU ofcourse

No need, the R7 1800X when paired with 3200mhz memory will do above 144fps on Overwatch and obviously provide 60fps+ on any other AAA out there.

I do second that the 2080 Super value proposition is non existing and a discounted vanilla 2080 is likely a better choice.

You should be fine. I found some benchmarks online but from personal experience, an 8 core 16 thread at that clock speed shouldn't bottleneck anything that isn't super CPU dependent. https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2080/amd-ryzen-7-1800x/

bottleneck no... but a 2080 super at 1440p in overwatch at 1440p your card and cpu are going to be at like 50-60% maybe. not a bad thing, but you could as others have said rock a 2070 super or even a 2060 super and still be hitting that threshold and save the $ for a later build upgrade

Thanks guys for the suggestions

I guess I'll look around for a 2070 super
