Got an interesting trade offer

So I posted my Threadripper 1950x and X399 Aorus Gaming 7 motherboard on facebook market recently, and I got an offer from a buyer nearby. He offered me the following for the mentioned parts:

i7 8700k CPU

MSI z270 SLI Plus Mobo

Coolermaster Masterliquid Lite 120

Gigabyte GTX 1070

Value-wise, it looks too good to be true especially with the graphics card just being dumped into it. I listed my parts online so I can buy a Ryzen 7 3700x since I don't do much multicore applications, but I believe an 8700k is doable. I have a 1080 ti, 32 gb ddr4 and a 850 W PSU. Should I do the trade or is this a no go?

If you are playing games and other speed/lower core workloads then yeah this makes sense.

It's Z270, so you can't get any better than the 8700K, but it's still better than a 1950X for that kind of work.

it does seem like a fair trade. TR boards and their CPUs are expensive, so an 8700K and board with a 1070 is good.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

if u got a 1080ti ask him to do it without 1070 and give u some cash whatever u think its worth.

A red flag to me is the Z270 + 8700K combo.

Officially the 8700K only works with 300-series boards/200-series boards only work with 6th and 7th gen chips.

Confirm the board/CPU combo, so youre not getting a 7700K..

Of course he could just be offering these parts just seperately, but I would have to guess he's selling a system (mobo+CPU combo) instead of a random CPU and mobo together..

He says he's short on the money and doesn't have any cash to offer. I can probably sell the 1070 on ebay for a good amount and use that money to buy a better mobo and cooler for the 8700k.

Yeah I was suspicious about this too. He claims that he's used it together before he upgraded to newer components.

The buyer also agreed to come over to see if my components are functional, then he will help put his components into my PC so I know his parts also work. I just hope he doesn't kill me or anything.

Now that @Minibois mentioned it (and I missed it the first time), I'm not seeing 8700K's on Z270.

Curious if he bought the parts by mistake and is looking to dump the problem on someone else?

The 8700k (nor any other 8th gen CPU) is not on the QVL of this board:

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z270-SLI-PLUS#support-cpu

Either he's mistyping the mobo/CPU number (it would be only one number off) or he's trying to pull some kind of scam. I'm hoping the former,,,

In the event it's a 7700K+Z270 I would say meh..

8700K+Z370 would be a good deal IMO.

Yeah. I'm talking to him right now and he's mixing it up with his 7700k cpu apparently. Claims he sold his z300 mobo separately and doesn't have it with him.
