Building a new rig exclusively for gaming and maybe little streaming every now and then but mostly just gaming. This is what I had in mind and I do prefer Intel since that's what I've always used. The budget is around 1000€ and I wouldn't like going over it. I wouldn't mind trying out amd if the price is somewhat lower for the same results in gaming

Edit: removed an extra hdd I put in by accideny

AMD Ryzen, cheaper for the same performance. The Ryzen 5 3600 fits in the CPU budget alone, but you also chose a $180 board. A sub $100 B450 board and a Ryzen 7 3700X is preferable to this setup

I agree with you that Ryzen 5 3600 performs similar in gaming and with hyper-threading he can benefit alot while streaming but with 3700X, there is no way to keep it below €1000 with a modern card like the 2060 or RX 5700. Even the OP build is more than 15% over the €1000 mark and we have to build him something that remains under his budget.

I think if you are really strict with the budget then VEGA 56 is a better option as it is a few bucks cheaper than the RTX 2060 and they both out perform each other in the games they are optimized for (not by a huge margin i.e, 5-8 more on Avg FPS), other than that they perform pretty much the same.

All that said, I' d recommend something like this,

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  (€222.89 @ Alternate)
Motherboard: MSI B450M GAMING PLUS Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  (€84.99 @ Amazon France)

I would give ryzen a shot but right now there's a sale where I live and the 9600k is cheaper than the 3600 so that's also one of the reasons I'd stick with Intel I just don't know which cheaper mobo to go for

How much cheap is it? Even if there is a €30 difference, I will still consider the 3600 because of the boost it will give you in streaming. Also keep in mind that with the i5 you will need to spend money on a decent cooler as well, while the 3600's stock cooler is more than enough as it doesn't run that Hot. So basically its pretty much the same deal.

X570 Motherboard chosen so BIOS flashing wouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: turns out european stuff is more expensive. Above link to pcpartpicker on european version makes it 1200 euros. Another link:

As for the GPU I'd get either an RTX 2060 or an RX 5700, whichever you find cheaper. That's up to you. Also for anyone wondering why I didn't bother going with a more expensive case: "You're going to be looking at the monitor 99.9% of the time. Why bother spending on something that doesn't affect your gaming performance?"- A wise friend of mine. Someone else wondering why I went with 500 GB SSD instead of 240 or 250: Trust me it runs out quick.

That's why I break mine twice.

Any Gigabyte Z390 board would be fine if you are sticking with Intel. The Z390 UD is the entry level ATX board. An Arctic Freezer 34 esports duo would be a cheaper option for a cpu cooler.

The 9600K is kind of already at its limit in today’s games. If you are deadset on staying with Intel you should try get a 9700 of some sort, even if it’s a locked one.

An amd rig I'd probably go for if I had to go with it was trying to get as close as I can to 1000€ but I'm probably gonna add in 2 140mm intake fans at the front. Only thing I'm worried about is the mobo compatibility with the 3600 since it says in the pcbuilder its not compatible.

As I said, the Ryzen 5 3600 doesn't run that Hot out of the box and the stock cooler holds it up pretty good so there is absolutely no need to waste €40 on the cooler.

I will recommend the MSI B450 TOMHAWKIt has better VRM and a very solid overall reputation. Also it can be easily flashed to the latest BIOS without the CPU installed.

1 hour ago, Choxx said:

So all the bucks we have saved on the cooler, we can now invest them on Radeon 5700 XTWhy the 5700 XT? Because it is faster (a lot faster than the 2060) and is equivalent to the 2070 Super in most of the games and pulls out a few more FPS in games it is more optimized for.

Most of the B450 and X470 motherboards will require a BIOS update for them to work with the Ryzen 3000 series so need to worry about that.

Since you have made a part picker list that costs a total of €1069 and still you will be adding 2 140mm fans, its safe to estimate that you can spend a total of €1100 (if absolutely there is a need).

Here is what I would recommend for that price,

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  (€204.90 @ Caseking)
Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard  (€104.84 @ Mindfactory)

So you suggest he doesn't get the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro because of the weak VRM, and then you suggest something equally as bad in that Asus board ?

The first option is MSI. And I didn't said weak VRM, I said MSI is better and surely MSI is the one to go for, that should be the first option.

And yes definitely ASUS over Gigabyte unless you give me some evidence that the TUF Gaming has a weak VRM.
