Chrome has now completely shat itself

Go to solution Solved by Flyguygamer,

DELETE ALL FILES from C:/program files x86/ google. Now run ccleaner and use the registry cleaner. Now install chrome. Let me know if it works.

Gentlemen, I have tried everything in my knowledge to try and fix this problem. As it still persists, and my last resort is to re-install Windows, I have decided to put my faith in the LinusTechTips forum.

Let me try to explain. I was downloading stuff and I was infected with a browser hijacker, which infected Chrome, Firefox and IE.

(Just some info on the malware)

I downloaded Adwcleaner from this website and ran it, and it removed the software, and everything seemed dandy. But when I tried to open Chrome again, some extremely weird happened which I will explain later. I uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 times, deleted the Appdata, almost everything I thought would fix the problem.

So this is basically what happens:

I go to where Chrome is and I double click it, and it opens.

But the screen is blank completely blank. I open new tabs, I go to facebook, blank, I go to settings, blank.

Here is the application setting FYI:

please help, I refuse to use anything else than Google Chrome, due to Firefox not performing well, Internet Explorer not being an option for obvious reasons, and Opera for being Opera.

If all else fails, I will format.. so help me god :(

I'm an AVG Hall of famer and have done this several times in the past.  Please run Malwarebytes AntiMalware free from www.malwarebytes.org.  Download it and run a quick scan.  Also please download the latest version of AVG antivirus free edition 2014 from free.avg.com and replace your current antivirus to make sure this never happens again.  Please also run a scan with Hitman pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/downloads/ it will scan your system fast and will need a trial to be created but it will repair things that went wrong caused by the infection.

After running all 3 tools and removing all found objects proceed to uninstall chrome, run Ccleaner afterwards and remove all temporary internet and temporary files, as temp files can be infected still after an infection is removed.  Also run a reg error scan with Ccleaner and remove all detected items as reg keys can also be infected after removal.  I would then remove all files and folders left behind to do with chrome.  Proceed to reinstall chrome.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions or anything regarding other virus infections feel free to PM me.

What's wrong with Opera? The new ones are a bit screwed up but v12 is still great!

Opera Next is actually quite decent after getting used to it!

To start, turn off Compatibility mode.

Turn off all the addons

Open task manager and KILL all Chrome processes

Rename Chrome.exe to Chrom.exe and try to launch it from there, this removes some of the weird settings.
