Armor Revo Spartan Edition...My first build ever

RE Spartan

So this is my first build...EVER!  It all started when my old computer died.  A computer that i bought on craigslist..I think it was a phenom tri core with 2gb ram and a nvidia geforce 215 gpu..it sucked.  I couldn't even really play League of Legends.  So when it died I decided to build my own PC with a little guidance from a friend because I had no idea what I was doing.. heck I didn't even know what a modular psu was.  It started as a super cheap budget build with the only splurge being my Armor Revo Snow Edition that I bought on craigslist(new in box btw) for $100 and the guy threw in BF3 ultimate edition for giggles.  The interior had a I3-2120, Biostar H61 mobo, 8gb PNY 1333 ram, EVGA 650 TI, Antec Earthwatts 500w psu, and a 1tb WD caviar black hdd.  It was a great improvement from my old PC.  But the real story is that building this beginner rig got me super interested in seeing just how far I could take it. So this is my story and here is a pic of how it looked when I first put it together.

my next step was to fill the whole that wasn't covered by my tiny motherboard.  So I cut out a Spartan helmet from a piece of cardboard and put it in the hole.. I then put a cold cathode behind it so it would shine in the windowed side panel..

Then I decided I would get my side panel painted by a friend at work that does custom artwork as a side job...My IGN is spartan and I love League of Legends so I thought Pantheon would be a cool thing to get put on it..and I had him write "Spartan" on it also in a font a found online...

my next upgrades were a new MSI GTX 660 TI,3570K CPU, 8gb of Corsair Vengeance 1600 ram, gigabyte P67A-UD7(later upgraded to B3 version) and painted 5.25 bay clips...

977416_662054287144454_70391620_o.jpg

Then I got a Cooler Master V8..It did't match my scheme so I replaced the fan in it with one that has a blue led and I had the cover of it painted white..

1048122_669384253078124_1098438127_o.jpg

had to paint that ugly optic drive to have it match...painted it white and had "Spartan" written in the outside of it

1294317_708070235876192_1536147450_o.jpg

then I got new Bit Fenix Spectre Pro fans

1073267_683796878303528_726500986_o.jpg

Then I painted the video card and the expansion covers..

1074804_685915924758290_760855650_o.jpg

Then I got a new Corsair RM 850 and the white sleeved wiring kit!!  I had the PSU painted with a spartan helmet and had my IGN painted on the side..

1490718_779338148749400_912732870_o.jpg

when i installed a new spectre pro fan on my side paned i had to remove the pins that held on the mesh filter.  i was using tape for a while to hold it in place but i found some magnets and i painted them white and used them to hold it in place...works and looks pretty good if i may say so

1501242_782271068456108_587631287_o.jpg

then I painted my ram... with the prep, paint, dry time, and install it took about 5.5 hours..but I am pretty happy with how it turned out..

then I got my sig installed.  not quite done yet but it looks good so far!  and i fixed my gpu wires after i took the pic

1511895_787390857944129_885328797_o.jpg

Then I bought a SSd and mounted it above the optic drive on a panel I cut out of an old pc I had laying around..

1025598_795850177098197_2058634816_o.jpg

i'm totally not happy with how it came out..

It looks like garbage. I need to paint the ssd so that it doesn't look upside down. I need some white sata cables and i need to do a panel for where the sata cables pass through to the 3.5 bay...
It'll do for now i suppose but its far from what I was hoping for

............

o and this is my mouse pad and headphones..

Only time Armor Revo looks good lol, though I would still mod the sidepanel so it would have a bigger window.

I considered it but I am not confident enough yet to take on such a risky mod..  plus my pc is air cooled only so the fan in the side panel really helps my temps

I don't know about that first part, but for shipping, all you'd need to do is go to your local hardware store, get a wooden crate, and a ton of those packing beans, shove em in the case, and get some Styrofoam for outside of the case.

all he did was teach me what parts are best for what I need the pc to do(which I am pretty familiar with now)..I did all modding and color scheming myself

what do you mean dual channel?  the pc recognizes all 8gb of it.  what is dual channel? will it run faster in dual channel? what do i need to do to get in dual channel?  The ram i have actually does fit next to the cooler... it just wouldn't be as visible as I like so i used the other slots...

Eh doesnt realy matter, but there should be 1 slot in between the ram. I only have 1 stick of 8gb ram and it realy doesnt matter that im not in dual chanel, neither does it for you. Just leave it, there will be no differeance.

your ram is in the last two slots. for ideal performance it should be in 1 and 3... depending on what your mobo instructions say but most likely 1 and 3

I mean, there might be a tiny performance differance but not much
