Windows refusing to boot after a while forcing clean install

Hello, ive searched internet far and wide for 2 weeks now but to no avail.

I recently upgraded to x570 with 3700x but ive only had issues with it so far. Booting into 1903 win 10 seems to work 2 days but after that i cannot get in anymore and am forced to watch the spinning orbs for an hour before it just bsods to driver pnp watchdog or driver powertrain error. Ive now clean installed twice to 1903 and 1803 - same happens after 2 days when i just get my hopes up and start installing games, like its taunting me. Ive only installed gpu drivers and msi afterburner and such. All my games in the old hdds. Rolling back updates wont help. Memtest gave 0 errors. Im loosing my sanity here, ive been at it for 2 weeks. Please help ?

system restore fails as does rolling back. Only a clean install helps but i have to do it every 2 days now.

Ive tried 2 different ssds aswell as a new copy of win 10 home 64 aswell ad older 1803 update.

Only win defender so far. Newest bios and chipset drivers.

Specs:

Asus prime x570-pro

16gb kingston ddr4 3200mhz

Msi gtx 1080

2 samsung 850evo sds

2 1 tb wd hdds

Logitech g403

Grace design headphone amp

Dlink usb to ethernet dongle (my ethernet doesent work without it cause l211 drivers wont respond

Disconnect your old drives and only try with your boot SSD and see what happens?

Full system specs please.

I suspect you've got something connected that Windows update is "updating" in the background and is installing an unstable driver.

Got anything like a webcam, printer, old usb joypad etc connected?

That i haven't tried yet. Worth investigating. Unfortunately i had to do a clean install already but if i occurs again soon i will. Could i ask why do you think it could be the drives? Cheers

Could be memory problem try least amount of memory.

Just a suggestion

nah, OP already stated they ran memtest with no errors and the BSOD would indicate something faulty or conflicting in the OS install, likely caused from conflicts with the old HDDs

Those errors you're getting when BSOD indicate some type of conflict and I think something on the old HDDs may be the cause.

Fast Boot should be first thing to disable. Then advice about updating drivers that cause problems may be correct. You can disable automatic search for drivers update.

Tried without fast boot. The odd thing is its fine for 2 days bit then after win update it always fails

Oh no. Now clean install gives the same error with only 1 ssd in and no peripherals apart from kb and mouse.

What to do?

You still ignoring that advice about drivers.

Why do you expect that another install of the same operating system gives you different result? It's not a lottery. If you copy the same mp3 file 1000 times, it will not sound different. Look for different reason.

Heh, true - i was actually suggested the same as you did but after a clean install, cause i couldn't get into windows to disable it. Im afraid now i cannot even install.

My apologies for the dumb questions. I still got very much to learn.

You cannot install Windows? So if your pendrive is ok that means your hardware is not. Try with single memory stick (even if you already tested memory), disable overclocking (if any, including X.M.P.), replace sata cable etc.

Ok. Swapping sata from ssd to other solved this oddly enough.

Should i run memtest with both sticks separately?

Also, do you think i should disable automatic windows updates aswell?

Cheers

You should/can try everything. And I was not talking about disabling updates, just driver updates. And no - test memory together, single stick boot was some kind of fast testing where problem may be (faster than testing memory).

If you don't understand some advices - ask, don't ignore. :) As I said - oc may be a problem too.

Will Co!

Ok, windows is running again. Driver updates disabled. Got any tips what to do next or just use nornally and see if problem occurs?

E: speaking of o.c.

Ryzen master is the software that enables. 3700x to turbo. I wonder if that could be the issue. Ive tried booting with default bios settings after the infinite bootup but to no avail

At this point I would remove any OC options.

Ok. I will try without oc for a while. Seems to work for everybody else tho. Could a bad chip cause this kind of error? Even after resetting the oc thru bios?

I think now you should wait. But disabling oc may help too. But then you'll not be sure what causes problem so you may leave oc and disable it when problem returns (if).

Yeah, i will not oc for now. Problem is, if it returns and the oc is at fault, i cannot revert it (apparently) at least through bios - maybe the ryzen master software is bug ridden.

Cheers nonetheless folks, very much appreciated ❤️

Hopefully i will not return to update this thread :D

Wellp, im back.

1903 updated fine, all i did was install chrome and my amp drivers. No issue there. Windows updated a bunch, demanded a restart - - - > wont boot into windows... (only got 1 ssd in, all hdds are out)

Discovered this while waiting though :

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-wont-boot-when-using-system-restore-after-updating/

E: This time startup repair managed to fix it, i started adding hdds one by one to see if one of them is causing the issue

E2: installed chipset drivers. Stuck again.
