RAM is a little slow, try to get 3200mhz atleast, 3000mhz min,

And i would go with the Tomahawk MAX if possible.

Other than that it is fine, idk if you really need 32gb of ram in a gaming rig, but it doesn't hurt.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

You don't need a 2070 Super for 1080p 75Hz.  Are you going to upgrade that to a 144Hz 1440p soon?  If not, scale down that GPU since Destiny 2 is optimized like a champ.

I know this takes it slightly over budget but you could fit in some fast RAM like

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/TvDJ7P/gskill-ripjaws-v-32gb-4-x-8gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c19q-32gvrb

alternatively you could get half the kit for 80 bucks since im pretty sure you wont need 32 GB for gaming and if you are very likely to be able to upgrade

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VtL48d/gskill-ripjaws-v-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c19d-16gvrb

Also the Win 10 license seems awfully expensive. Maybe you got an old license you can use? Even win 7 and 8 licenses usually still work.

My 1660 Ti pushes 1080p ultra at 1080p with no issues, 2070 Super is defo overkill for that res.

I'd wait for AIB 5700XTs and then get this:

3700X - Destiny 2 runs fine on a hexacore but will use 8 cores if you have them, and IIRC Civ 5 is hard on the CPU and will use a lot of cores as well

Same mobo - solid option, basically the best B450 out there for Zen 2

RAM: You wanted 32GB, this is the cheapest set that'll still be good for Zen 2. CL14 or 3600Mhz CL16 or so is better but much more expensive unless you drop to 16GB

860 Evo - better than the WD Blue by a good bit, higher quality/better NAND and a bit faster

GPU - 5700 XT, it's within 10fps of the 2070 Super on average (in a few games it's faster, in some it's slower, in many within margin of error, but never off by more than 10fps or so from what I've seen) for $100 less

Case -  NZXT H500, solid case and cheaper than the Fractal Design Meshify C while being a bit more premium than the Phanteks P350X (really well designed case but it's cheaper/thinner metal and glass)

PSU -  650W just for safety's sake if you want to OC the GPU and such with no worries, same price as the 550W you had selected too

Monitor: 1080p 144hz VA panel at 24", which is the perfect size for that resolution. I play on a 1080p 144Hz TN panel, also a 24" monitor and it's excellent.

Left the keyboard and mouse the same, you can get additional fans if you need to later, and I'd just get a $7 windows 10 pro key off eBay (they usually give you a new one for free if the first one fails, just make sure they state that then message the seller if there's an issue) and call it a day.

EDIT: If you're planning to run 1080p forever then just get the normal 5700. 5700XT leaves you the option to upgrade to 1440p144Hz or run more graphically intensive games at a higher fps.

First off, thanks for all the feedback. I figured there would be a few spots where the build was lacking.

  • I think I will cut down to 16GB for some faster RAM. I run around 12 GB on my work computer but that's probably because I have too many Chrome tabs open.
  • I'll look into other Windows licensing options, lord knows I don't want to pay another $100 for windows.
  • Nice find/recommendation on the 5700 XT, I was primarily going to get the 2070 Super so the build lasts for a few years and it seemed like a good deal at $500 but that deal for the 5700 XT is great.
  • The 3600 6-core should do fine for me, and I'll take the savings/better monitor where I can get it.
  • For some reason it's cheaper to buy two 1x8 GB of those Ripjaws than a 2x8 from Newegg.

-snip-

Would go for a lower CL rating on the RAM if you have the budget for it, CL17 or lower is better, the kit you have picked is CL19. Other than that it should be a stellar build.

Thanks again for the information, I'm not super literate once it gets down to the nitty-gritty of hardware specs. This memory seems like it should work better in the build.

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($84.99 @ Newegg)

If you want the best for Ryzen 3000, 3200Mhz CL14 or 3600Mhz CL15-16 is the best, 3200Mhz CL16 will be fine though. I've seen some 3600Mhz CL18 kits for cheaper/the same as the 3200Mhz CL16 though, so those are an option too. Basically you want the highest MHz (up to 3600Mhz) with the lowest CL number that fits in your budget.

single ram sticks cost less because kits are tested together (more work therefore extra cost)

and yes 3600 Ram for ryzen is best
