You wouldn't have to upgrade your cpu. You're only 1 gen behind. You'd get a couple benefits form a new board n cpu but not enough for the costs. But, if you're getting good fps rn with the games you play maybe wait until you play a game that takes more resources to upgrade.

Yes this is what I'm planning. Mostly I want to upgrade because I enjoy building and overclocking PCs but since mine is still performing well there is no need for me to do anything.

even the 2080 , it doesn't have a big difference in fps according to this Video

Keep the GTX 1080 it is still a good GPU. What model of 1080 do you have ? FE ? Have you overclocked it ?

I've always been a proponent of skipping a generation. With how small the performance bumps are these days, that tactic is even more valid. Hell, skipping 2 gens is becoming a legitimate approach to things.

Sit tight with the 1080, it'll be good for a while. Start the research up again when the next gen lands.

I'm pretty sure my purpose in life is to serve as a warning for others.

Just wait for big Navi so we'll get better price on higher end range.

Nope, waaaay wrong! The 5700XT is a fair bit faster, so unless you can reasonably explain to us why the GTX1080 is 'absolutely the better choice', we'd take your assertion with a bag of salt. I have the GTX1080 myself, if I can sell it for a good price, I'd be all over the 5700XT like a bad rash.

OK, I do not care what you think and you absolutely can think whatever you like.

I have better GPUs, so I will not argue with others about some performance of 1080 or 5700。

Hello guys i have 1080 g1 . and i am planning to sell it and buy the new 5700xt but i saw some reviews , they seem to have the same performance . so what do u recommend me guys ?>

i have seen some 2070 super reviews its better than 5700xt but up to 700NIS price difference for 10 fps avg is not worth right ?

* 700NIS = 200$

*i wanna play on 1440p 144hz. " i dont have it yet but i am getting one soon "

or what gpu do u recommend to upgrade ?

1080 should be fine for 1440p 144hz

I have a 1080 and honestly nothing on the market from a price:performance standpoint has me even remotely interested in upgrading. Sure, 2080 is a lot faster, like 30-40% faster. It also costs a lot of money. I'll personally be interested in upgrading when I can get double the performance for the same $700 CAD I payed for my 1080.
