DVI-D to HDMI cable

p123

So, my  motherboard has a HDMI and a DVI-D display port. My monitor has only a DVI-D display port. In the meantime I have no cable for display. If I bought a HDMI to DVI-D cable and connected them to my system and monitor would there be any problem with the resolution or anything?I was told I should buy a converter but I am not sure...What do you think?

A passive adapter/cable should be fine, I use one myself

Yea, assuming you don't need 144Hz for example, any HDMI to DVI cable will work just fine.

The HDMI-DVI cable should do up to 1920x1200 60Hz and higher but at lower refresh rate.

Cheap DVI-HDMI adapters should also work.

HDMI converts well to DVI-D, so a converter cable or a simple HDMI to DVI adapter will work.  I've used adapters like these for quite a few monitors around work that had poor or no HDMI compatibility, and they've done a great job.
