Would I need to overclock my build?

Jettt

Here's the parts I'm currently looking into:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RX 5700
MoBo: Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro
Ram: Gskill RIpjaws V 16GB Dual DDR4 3200Mhz
Storage: WD Blue 500GB SSD
Case: Bitfenix Nova TG 1x120mm Fan
PSU: EVGA 750 B3 80+ Bronze Fully Modular

I'm going to use it mainly for video editing, and some casual gaming. It's my first time building a PC and I don't know if it would be worth it to overclock my build. Would the boost from overclocking make a significant difference in performance?

Overclock if you want to. Without an aftermarket cooler I wouldn't suggest it on the CPU, but the GPU would probably be fine with a little overclocking. You might be able to get 10-15% extra performance out of your parts, but it is by no means necessary to get a good experience out of them.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No. Ryzen 3000 series doesn't do any better on manual overclocking than on Precision Boost. PBO doesn't seem to be working right, or is just on all the time IMHO, either way, Ryzen 3000 just works and you're better off leaving it alone.

As @RobFRaschke said, zen 2's precision boost basically maxes out the performance. You could try overclocking, but don't expect any better results.

Overclocking the CPU surely doesnt do much, but overclocking the memory and GPU can lead to decent performance gains. I wont go for that motherboard though

MSI has better VRM design for X470/B450 generation for the most part until you get to the top tier boards. The Tomohawk and Bazooka are a great value proposition.

For overclocking and upgrading. Its feature set is alright but power delivery is weak and memory overclocking limit to about 3466MHz. Good enough for the 3600, even the 3700x should be bearable, but not more cores.

and it's not even that cheap
