1500~1700€ gaming build, please help!

Hi. I'm a complete beginner in PC building and I decided to finally try and build something. Currently, I'm using a 5 y/o pre-built and it's definitely time to upgrade.
I'm mostly playing FFXIV, but for some time now I wanted to play newer games (FFXV, BF5, Cyberpunk in the future).

I have a dual monitor setup, main is Asus rog swift pg279q, second Benq gw2270. I already have two drives, 2TB HDD for larger games and files and a 500GB SSD for smaller games. A system disk will be needed.

As much as I can make some people angry saying this, I do not care about RGB. Case's visuals also don't matter for me.
I'm living in Sweden.

Sorry for another thread asking for help with building, but all others were either outdated (before 3rd gen ryzen) or simply didn't fit my expectations. Thanks for all help!

For gaming only, I would go AMD 3600 + B450 Tomahawk + 3600MHz RAM.

Why the Fractal R5 when the R6 is a better successor?

With the 3800X cheaper than the 3700X, I would get the 3800X if you want to stream seriously while you game.  Otherwise grab the 3600.

I wouldn’t go with the 3600. FFXV is a really demanding game

Technically if you’re only into gaming intel is the better option. You can cut cost in a few places if you wanted (8700k and an air cooler) Here is a build you could do:

Unfortunately se.pcpartpicker.com only has a couple of merchants and very few parts listed. So I elected to use de.pcpartpicker.com.

The build would be fine with a 550W psu, but the 650W unit is the same price.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor  (€349.00 @ Alternate)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME X570-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard  (€258.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  (€92.89 @ Alternate)
Storage: Crucial MX500 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (€67.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: Asus GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8 GB DUAL EVO OC Video Card  (€791.43 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Case: Fractal Design Define C ATX Mid Tower Case  (€80.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  (€92.00 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Total: €1733.02

For now these are my favourite builds so far! Thank you, will look for prices from local sellers. I have one question for @brobtho, how come there are no fans in your build ?

Thank you, but I don't think I will be able to regularly clean the liquid cooling loop.

The cooler is an AIO so you wouldn't need to clean it, rather you couldn't. It's built so you don't have to do that sort of thing.

But the Noctua cooler performs better in thermals and noise when going against any AIO that's only 240mm, so you can just get that.

The cpu comes with a decent cooler. Nothing more is usually needed unless one wants to overclock.

The case comes with two fans, more than enough to establish good airflow through a relatively empty case.

It’s an all in one liquid cooler it’s 0 maintenance. I also realized I don’t think I added a psu to the parts list. If you ended up going with something like mine I would drop the ram to 16gb and grab a gold rates ~650-750w psu

No need to clean... it's a AIO.

The fans are included in the case.

What PSU would you recommend instead? Thank you for helping.

A Corsair RMx or be Quiet Straight Power 11, 550W or 650W, would do great.

You literally recommended an 8c/8t CPU above... So this statement makes NO sense. Lol

An 8c 8thread cpu that is better at gaming then AMD’s 12 core 24 thread cpu. Having more cores does not mean the cpu is faster at gaming. The 3600 has lower clock speeds then the 3700x which would make more sense then a 3600 in a ~1700 euro build in my opinion. I found this video directly comparing their performance

*Edit* The 9700k looks like it's actually about 1-2 fps slower than the 3900x at stock speeds. But if you're inclined he 9700k can be OC'd further than a ryzen 3000 chip.

I'm not arguing that the 9700K isn't faster in single core. It's a great gaming CPU. I'm just pointing out that saying "The 3600 isn't enough for FFXV, grab a 3700X." doesn't make sense, since the difference is... 2 cores, 4 threads.

(I suppose that's not what you meant above, though given the question you were answering, that's kinda how it read.)

They game almost identically.
