I'd like to push my 3600 as far as I can, and I can get a good deal on a NH-D15 or a be quiet Silent Loop 360. Kinda stuck between the two, which could achieve a higher OC? Just an extra bit of info, I care very much about noise levels.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Silent Loop 360 is better... but I dont think they are even comparable in price. Tbh for performance, get a $50-60 air cooler and spend extra money on higher rated memory and a good board instead.

Do you already own the R5 3600? because it makes far more sense just get a R7 3700X and use stock cooler if you're willing to spend 150 dollars on a 360mm AiO.

'Overclocking' is pretty dead nowadays, on a R5 3600 you'll get 4.3ghz all cores and that's it... regardless how cool it gets you'll be unlikely to get anything more, in fact PBO is a better way around it since it'll boost single and dual core to 4.4ghz~4.5ghz providing better gaming performance and that's pretty much achievable on stock cooler already.

Yes, I have the 3600, and the 360 isn't 150 (or the retail over here in UK), I can get a good deal on one.

Value wise there's no sense in this, but should you want to go through it any ways that's your call... just have in mind overclocking is really on it's last legs already, both Intel and AMD are pushing their CPU to it's limits out of the box.

As for the original question I'd get the NH-D15 without doubt, nothing is as silent as it while providing such an amazing cooling capacity.

I can get a D15 for £50, which sounds alright to me in terms of value, considering it's silence and cooling capability. I can get the AIO for not much more though. I'm not going to keep the stock cooler on it because it's simply too loud.

It's a great purchase then, go for it without fear.

FWIW, my 3600 boosts the same between the stock cooler and a 280mm AIO. PBO and the AutoOC functions gave me an extra....75 MHz. Whoopie. I top out at 4.2 GHz (completely stock) or 4.275 all-core (PBO/AutoOC).

The better cooler does run cooler. It did not make OC-ing any better.

Just get fast ram and call it a day, pick a cooler for aesthetics and noise rather than for OC.
