LTT Slabtop - Potential Video

Super Tech Mike

So about a year or two ago I saw this website with this guy who was going to make a custom laptop for all or an enclosure or something of that nature, http://www.binari.tech/, but nothing about the idea has sprung up in about three years. I would love to see them build a custom laptop over here at LTT, the team behind the project even made a forum post back with it was still relevant

I'm perfectly aware that this is not the most elegant, compact, or cheapest thing to do and it's kind of ridiculous and a little stupid. Techquickie already kind of made a video about it here

But come on, wouldn't it be awesome, if impractical?

It would be cool but to make something slim, it would require making your own costom motheroard and I dont think every one wants to do that. If only they had a ATX standard for laptops like they do with PCs

Yeah, but the original idea wasn't thin and a wouldn't care if this one wasn't. I just think a custom laptop with and integrated display and keyboard and trackpad and battery that you can put whatever you want (Within Reason) in would be awesome.

Convince ASRock to do it, they love shrinking motherboards as much as possible (see the mini PC, ITX X99 and X299 mobos, mATX TR4 motherboard, etc).

Yep. And an X99 ITX board, as well as an X299 ITX board that takes laptop DDR4 so it has 4 slots for quad-channel RAM. Pretty sure they would have made an ITX TR4 board if the socket itself wasn't so huge.

Exactly! Wouldn't it be awesome if LTT did a video on making one?
