i just installed and tested Debian 7.3 (and i love it :)

this is "the old school" OS

this "is not" the easy Ubuntu or Mint, is the father of all (hi Luke, i am your father)

when you installed (from the ISO DVD you make) it give you 4 options

you need to pick

64 bits graphical install

after all is running, go check (and use) a program (already installed) called Synaptic

in there search GKrellM and use Synaptic to install this tool (that i love)

that is the helpful monitor on the right side of the picture

also i recommend install Google Chrome (you can do that from the google page)

after you download the file (.deb) do a "right click" on him and installed with the package Installer

and that is all, your machine is ready for all (debi make all the work and google do the rest)  ^_^

How is it so far?

RAM usage? Any freezing?

And your Avatar disturbs me...

Ditto. I'm just waiting for pacman -Syyu to break my system. So far, nothing.

as far a i know, Debian can easy work on "any" machine flawlessly  but here are the minimum specs

"with" desktop graphical interface

512mb (recommend) + 5GB (recommend)

but also can work with this, if we need ^_^ (with a desktop "graphical" interface also)

128mb (minimum) + 1GB (minimum)

(keep in mind that we can also install this "without" the desktop graphical interface, with even "less" resources)
