I5 or i7

I am in need of a new cpu. I need this new cpu for rust more than any other game. 

Current specs:

i7 6700

16GB ddr4 ram

GtX1070ti

My top two choices are an i5 9600k, or an i7 8700k. Is the 8700k really worth the 100 dollars more? 

What do you think I should go with?

Skip the current gen chips unless you have some spontaneous need for 8+ cores.
