Yeah the VS is garbage and will die early and take your system with you, aim for the mentioned TXM it's a great unit specially for it's price.

So cosair do 2 PSUs both at 650W, the VS 650w and the RMx 650W. The VS 650 is half the price. For my gaming build with a ryzen 7 and an RTX 2070S do I really need the twice as expensive RMx or can I just use the VS650?

Personal Gaming PC Setup Battlestation Rig Thing -

you can use something in the middle, like the TX650M or CX650M. Even lower wattage units since your build tops at about 500w power draw in the absolute worst case, in gaming it should only pull about 350w.

Cheaper PSU cut away efficiency and durability of components. Imo VS is cut down too much and makes no sense when you can afford R7 and 2070S.

What exactly does it mean to be a best brand in something?

So.. does it mean every Seasonic power supply is always better than any other brand's offer, at all price points and all market segments? We can just blindly pick Seasonic PSUs and not look at any other ones?

"The reliability" - you mean the reliability of the brand name? Or the reliability of the brand's PSUs? Does it mean every Seasonic PSU is more reliable than any other brand's unit?

What do you consider clean years on the market?

Who judges which brand has the best reliability, support, and clean years on the market, and by what methods?

Well, that unit actually fails in competition with other units at its price point, due to having a problem with OCP that affects the quality substantially. Not that I'd expect you to know that, of course.

For the same price a Bitfenix Whisper M can also be had, and it additionally has better construction overall, a much better choice. In the united states, an EVGA G1+ also makes a compelling competitor.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Okay, but what sacrifice am I making by spending more than a VS? What am I losing from the RMx?

Seeing as theyre all 650W surely anything will do unless the VS is badly made/prone to dying early?

Transient response, quality of protections, fan quality, warranty period, lifespan, voltage ripple, there are tons of extensive quality factors that you don't find on a spec sheet.

If the VS is that much cheaper, it stands to reason it was cheaper to make and therefore not as good.

Yeah the VS is garbage and will die early and take your system with you, aim for the mentioned TXM it's a great unit specially for it's price.

Is fully modular/semi modular important or useful?

I mean it's very useful for cable management but that side not specifically... it's just that most good quality power supplys will throw semi-modularity / full-modularity as a bonus.
