Laptop Buying Help in New Zealand

I'm looking for a new laptop for school and a little gaming, would buying a gaming laptop be the best option for price to performance? I am not worried about touchscreen or anything like that, and I am just looking for a good traditional laptop. It seems that all of the study or business laptops that I could buy seem way over-priced when compared to gaming laptops at the same price. Would that be right, or am I missing something?

Thanks

P.S I'm going to bed so I'll reply to any answers in a few hours. See you then!
