Motherboard killed 3 cpus. Any hope of fixing them?

So one day I was using my PC with a z97 anniversary by ASRock and my 4790k. Suddenly my PC shut off and wouldn't boot. Tried my backup cpu, the i5 4460 that was just laying around, and no post as well. Thought nothing of it, the board is dead. Fast forward 2 days, get a new board. Same issue. Then I got a i3 4130. This worked in the new board, and I was bummed that the cpus were dead instead of the board. Tried the i3 4130 in my z97 board, nothing. Now the i3 doesn't work in my other board, an h81 by ASRock. I believe it was overvoltage to the cpus, but there is no visible damage. Any hope in saving them? Thanks!

overvolting may have fried some contacts or the chips itself, probably hopeless now

You could try a 12 gauge shotgun to reseat some SMT components on the MB. At the very least it will help insure you don't put anymore CPUs in the motherboard.

I am actually surprised that you actually killed a cpu let alone 3, that would mean that motherboard was pushing extremely high voltages through those cpus. Have you had a chance to monitor voltages while they were working? Also do that board boot in to bios with one of those dead cpus?

That was my thought too but it sounds like the new mother board and 4130 was working fine until the old board fried the 4130.

 

Send the dead CPUs off in a viking fired fueled by a cursed Z97.

Dude, I didn't realize the board killed my first 2 CPU's. After the 3rd, I snapped it in half. No more killer board.

Can't boot into bios. Didn't have time to monitor voltages unfortunately. Seeing the board is in half right now, I don't think I'll be booting into any bioses.

Snapping it in half was the proper solution. I always approve of punishing broken electronics.
