Ahhh... The hard drive is blank.

Hold the option key and press the power button, let go of the power button and hold option until you see some disks show up on screen. You will either see a disk labeled with a few numbers followed by the word Recovery, or a different looking disk that says something along the lines of internet recovery. You may need to connect to WiFi on this screen before internet recovery shows up, it depends on the model.

Could you by chance show me a picture of the laptop open? I really just need to see the keyboard and trackpad, but the screen would help too.

ok so im pretty savvy when it comes to windows, but recently got a free mac book pro from a friend and it has a very strange thing going on,it wont boot unless the usb stick is plugged in so im thinking the os is on the usb and the hdd is blank,i dont have any of the apple utilities stuff or anything so bare with me,anyways im trying to figure out how i can maybe get whats on the usb to the hdd? and why it wont boot without the usb?...i have tried to use disk utilities startup thing to maybe restore the hdd with the usb as source but it just wont let me do that, any ideas of a fix?

What screen does the macbook give you when you boot without the USB stick? Folder? Prohibitive? (Circle with line through it)

What model Macbook Pro? Look on the bottom cover, you should see one or both: A number thats suffixed with an A, or a number suffixed by EMC. Whichever you have will help me help you greatly, and both will be even better.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta
