Need help for gta 5 settings

everything from advanced settings is off except for frame scaling mode(1.75)

1.75x Frame scaling? That's quite high... Frame scaling will hurt your performance. It's rendering the game at a higher resolution and then downscaling it to your monitors resolution. Averaging 60-70FPS at approx 1440p with all settings set to Ultra is not far off what what to expect from a GTX1080.

But not sure how much performance you will see by dropping the frame scaling down seeing as average of 70FPS is to be expected from a Ryzen 5 1500X in GTA V.

TLDR; Might be able to increase FPS by a little by decreasing the frame scaling (try 1.5x), but for the settings you're running you're pretty much at what should be expected from your system.

But wouldn't it, if ram bandwidth was the bottleneck? I wouldn't call it yet until we see more fps numbers from OP

Or perhaps we have him play another game and see how many FPS that games brings.

You can bring down a 2080Ti with resolution scaling when your already playing at 1440p the most played resolution next to 1080p.

Instead of resolution scaling, why don't you use AA methods in the nvidia panel.  Those will get rid of jaggies.  No need for scaling unless you wanna hit a wall just like playing at 4k you hit a wall as well.

RIght click on the desktop and go to nvidia panel.  Then go to 3D settings up top left now if I were you I would max out and turn on all AA methods in there from FXAA to MSAA and AF and choose high quality.  Your 1080 can handle this.  Whats messing you over is the CPU.

Also for the hell of it I have a idea.  When you go to nvidia panel and scroll all way to last option,  Turn the vsync to "Fast" and try GTA5.  Do let us know, it is worth a shot.

So I did that and it made it worse, but I oced my ram and turned off frame scaling mode and now getting high 50 to low 80s

I have a ryzen 1500x oc to 4.0ghz and a gtx 1080. For gta 5 I have everything maxed out except for grass(very high), everything from advanced settings is off except for frame scaling mode at 1.75 cuz my display is 1920x1080 Im getting about 50-70 fps. Is that ok?

Set frame scaling to whatever default is(I'd imagine 0), set your graphic settings as shown below and call it a day.

gta5g1.png.65071180a1c57f4df176c7bff1d10c1a.png

Set Shader Quality to High. You will lose 5-6 fps at High but visual fidelity will noticeably improve in certain lighting and on certain surfaces and terrain. You can also set Ambient Occlusion to High instead of Off for better shading behind/around objects and you will only lose around 3-4 fps at High. Everything else you see in these screenshots are completely mastered for maximum fps without losing visual fidelity. Been doing heavy research on them, tweaking them up and down for many years. Ultra presets are for suckers.

P.S. When playing GTA 5 online, the more people you have in your lobby, the more things people are doing, the lower your fps will randomly dip. This is just how GTA 5 is and even people with the best hardware in the world will experience fps drops in GTA 5 Online.

Wow, thank you so much. I will try that. what's the percentage of the distance scaling?

Welcome. Distance Scaling is set at 60%. You can do 80% if you wish and you'll only sacrifice around 1-2 fps. If you do 90%, you'll sacrifice around an additional 3-5 fps from 60%. If you do 100%, you'll sacrifice around an additional 4-7 fps from 60%. I set it to 60% because I don't notice much of a difference visually between 60% and 100%.

Extended Distance Scaling hits fps big time. Just going from 0% to 10% hits around 2-3 fps. And it's around the same between each % bump until you hit around 70%. Then from 70% to 80%, it's around 3-4 fps between the two. From 80% to 90%, it's not so big, around 1-2 fps. But then from 90% to 100%, it's around a good 4-5 fps hit. Ultimately, the difference between 0% and 100% is around 20 fps. Which is why I set it to 0%. The main reason I do this is because what I notice visually when it's on 100% just isn't worth the 20 fps. Having it at 0% presents a more stable fps in general. And both 100% and 0% still has pop-ins occurring.

Here is a difference of what 0% and 100% looks like...

grand-theft-auto-v-pc-extended-distance-

grand-theft-auto-v-pc-extended-distance-

You see, when I look at these two pictures, visually, they look great and almost the same. So I'll take an extra 20 fps and a much more stable frame rate all day long. Here's another example of the difference of 0% and 100%. And in these pictures, I've circled a couple subtle differences I noticed.

100% Distance Scaling...

gta5ds100.thumb.png.024770327b100db19ad1b822004719a7.png

0% Distance Scaling...

gta50.thumb.png.351fcda7e91930b98d54f192342546f4.png

If these tiny changes are something that somehow bothers you, just bump it to 20%. Here is why...

20% Distance Scaling...

gta520.thumb.png.c3630708e718b61b7fc869f963100349.png

Whata' ya' know, 20% makes these buildings look very very similar to 100%. Sure 100% is going to change even further distance and maybe throw in more trees to spot but who exactly has to have that stuff? I sure don't. I prefer more fps. I can see the Vinewood sign and mountains way in the background clear as day in every single % so 0% is all I need.
