Here are the RuneScape High-Detail System Requirements (Minimum)

  • CPU SPEED: 1.5 GHz Processor
  • RAM: 256 MB
  • VIDEO CARD: 128 MB 3D Graphics Card (i.e. NVIDIA GeForce 4 or above, or ATI Radeon 9800 or above)
  • TOTAL VIDEO RAM: 128 MB
  • HARDWARE T&L: Yes
  • PIXEL SHADER: 1.4
  • VERTEX SHADER: 1.1

The "compromised" build and graphics card listed above is not just overkill, but disgustingly so. I can't even find benchmark videos of Runescape gameplay, because... It's ancient and requires a potato to play.

Here's the RX 590 with a less powerful CPU dominating Fortnite. You could expect even higher frames based on the difference in single core performance from the 3700X over the 2600X shown in this video.

No part of the build is compromised.

If you want a GAMING computer, then sure, grab an RTX 2070 or somesuch. If you want it to play your games at (still a blowout) high settings effectively, and do the workload computing that you claim the build is for better, then look to the better CPU.

No your right thanks so much man I really appreciate your knowledge and help. It’s more important to have more cores and threads for editing and the gpu is like you said still overkill forcrunescape and fortnite. If I want to play any other games tho like bo4 and other FPS could I do so with the 3700x build?

I would go with the second build, as the 3600 is a solid processor, especially for only £188. You don't need that 3700x. The second build also comes with the new RX 5700 XT from AMD, which should be great for 1440p gaming. While the RX 590 is a good card, it is 2 generations old (Vega + Navi). You can do whatever you want with storage, but the 1TB M.2 SSD in the second build should be fine. If you have a bit more money you could upgrade the MoBo to the B450 tomahawk from MSI. Otherwise it seems good.

Actually nevermind; I thought the first build had a 5700 XT. Go for the second one!!!!

I hear what your saying but trevb0t has a very good point, I’m only gaming on fortnite and runescape. So wouldn’t it make sense to have more cores and threads for editing?

True, but as time goes on, games will become more graphically demanding and therefore I believe that the 5700xt will future proof your system better. 6c 12t will still be fine for ages.

Which monitor do you own / plan to buy? Do you plan to get more monitors in the future? Which resolutions/refresh rates?

An RX 590 can pull respectable (60ish+) FPS on any game at 1080p. The only cases that it will fall lower are the same games beating up on all mid range GPUs currently. (AC Odyssey, Metro Exodus.)

It's not a pushover, and it's not a low end card. It's a great option at a budget.

What about if I was to put the 5700xt in the first build? And I haven’t got s moniotr yet, I haven’t really researched it. I did find s video on YouTube talking about the best 144htz monitors under 200 and I was just gonna get the best one of that

Yeah I defo wouldn’t play any of them games anyway. What would you say if I said I could possibly put a 5700xt in with the 3700x build

Thatll be 1080p then.

Sure, putting the 5700 xt in the first build would be great, but do you have the money? I would create a PCPartPicker lidt but its down atm so Ill try to make you one later. Just another thought, any prefernces when it comes to cases/asthetics?

Edit: Its back - give me a moment.

It's a great GPU. The XT is comparable to an RTX 2070.

You're not gonna fit both in that budget.

If the moniotr only goes to 1080p is the even worth getting the 5700xt? Not to sure how that works and yeah great if you could make one for me I’d appreciate that. And no, no preferences at all other than having s glass side panel to see inside. Otherwise I Don’t mind having a cheaper case to make it cheaper. And yes btw I could afford to put the 5700xt in it if I wanted to, it’s just more than I was originally planning to spend

I think I may just get this. I can still afford it it’s not a problem, it’s just more than I originally wanted to spend. But this allows me to have both s good cpu and gpu. Meaning I won’t have to upgrade for longer. Is there anyway to make is cheaper else where tho? The ram is 3200, could I not use 3000? Any cheaper parts or anything else wear

I’m sure there is s cheaper power supply, and do I need 1tb of storage? Can I not go for 500mb as only plan on getting 2 games ? Or do I need more for video editing? I’ll be using memory sticks for the editing anyway. Do I need the 3200 ram or is 3000 good enough

Don't skimp on the power supply. Depends on what sort of videos you're editing. If you're just making 2 minute memes and deleting them after uploading then you're probably fine but if not where are you going to store all your video files? Also memory sticks don't store your videos.

You don't "need" 3200mhz ram but 3600mhz is recommended for the 3700x by AMD.
