and i dont know the APN settings as optus hides them

yea but then configuring settings like portforwading will have to be done on both routers

nope, just on the current router as the other device would be running as a switch only, not doing nat or any routing.

i just installed opensense and the screen is black. Guess my hardware to old.

why do opensense, it won't help your wifi speeds, you need a faster access point and/or client to get better wifi speeds.

 

Are you running at 5g for wifi?
