PC Upgrade and Re purpose

Go to solution Solved by Firewrath9,

Sell R5 1600 (50$), buy 1700/1700x/1800x (130$), if still using stock cooler, then a decent 30$ aftermarket one like a cryorig m9 plus or a gammax 400

sell 1060 (100$), buy used 1070/vega 56 (220$ on r/hardwareswap)

what PSU?

are you using ethernet?

get microphone (blue snowball ice would work fine) (50$)

if you want a facecam, a logitech C920 or something like this

Hey LTT community! I am starting this topic because I am trying to upgrade my PC while also needing to re purpose it. Here is what I need help with:

I have been given $300 (USD) to upgrade my current "Gaming" PC. I want to make my PC able to game AND stream. So I was wondering if anyone could recommend any parts I might need to upgrade out of my current PC that'll make it able to stream, whether it's a new part, or a WiFi adapter, I just need any part(s) under $300. Thanks!

Current PC:

AMD Ryzen 1600 CPU

ASRock B350M Motherboard

G-Skill FlareX 16GB

2TB HDD

128GB SSD

EVGA SC GTX 1060 3GB

620W Powersupply

Depends on the game but it should be fine to stream right now even if you use a cpu encoder. Go and try it out and report back to see if there is any issues. Also streaming over wifi is not recommended due to how wifi tends to drop packets more often and this can cause some frameskips or lag.

The 1600 is enough to game and stream at the same time.

4 cores dedicated to game, 2 for streaming.

Sell the 1060 for $130 and get a 2060 or better.

Better GPU can help the encoding.

Put less stress on the CPU, plus more FPS.

Thanks for replying and giving advice. Just to clarify, there wouldnt be any bottlenecking between the 1600 and 2060? If there would, is upgrading my CPU to a 1600X or better worth it?

What are the chances I could sell those?

I live in a typical household with a middle class family, my ethernet is downstairs and my office is upstairs, is there any "good" way of having wireless connetion? e.g. WiFi router or adapter? Thanks!

high, on r/hardwareswap, you can prob get 70$ for the R5 1600, 1060s go for 110-120$ there.

Hey LTT Community, I am looking towards upgrading my computer to a different processor, this PC of mine is for Streaming and Gaming. I am caught up with what processor I should use, should I upgrade to a 2nd Gen 2600 or a 1600X. I have looked into the statistics and I am leaning towards the 2600, but I dont want to go through the process of replacing my motherboard (I am a first time builder and just worried). So would it be worth it to just upgrade to a 1600X or have to go through the process of getting a 2600 and new B450 motherboard? Thanks!

Hey LTT Community, after a lot of help and assistance I have finally decided on a set list of parts I am going to upgrade on my PC. But just to be safe, I ask if anyone could look through and make sure that these parts wont bottleneck. This would be my first time upgrading and I don't want to put it to water because of bottleneck. Below is my parts list from

I mean if I just go with non-x, that would be the PC I have right now. I have really crappy wireless internet, so is it best just to upgrade my cooler, storage AND get a new wifi?

The non-x and the x is the same CPU. I dont see why you would upgrade to the x variant.........

Alsp get the arctic freezer 33/34 esports one/duo instead of the hyper 212. Much better options.

Will there be enough clearance for the cooler in my M-ATX case/motherboard?

considering its the same size as a 212, most likely the case.

May I ask what your current processor is? And given the choice, I'd definitely go with the 2600 over the 1600x and just overclock it as Zen+ is much more optimized than first gen Zen. And if you can since AMD just launched their new lineup of Zen2 chips, I don't a see a real good reason not to buy a Zen2 chip that is within your financial capability of course.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X; GPU: MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z; MoBo: MSI B450 Gaming Plus ATX; RAM: TForce Delta TUF RGB 3200MHz (2x8) 16GB;

Case: CoolerMaster MB511 RGB TG; PSU: Seasonic Prime FX Gold 750W Fully Modular; CPU Cooling: Cooler Master MA620P; Storage: WD Blue 250GB SATA SSD & Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM; Monitor: MSI MAG241C 144Hz Curved Gaming Panel; Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Platinum (MX Brown); Mouse: Fantech X11 Daredevil
