Hello, i have a weard question that i couldn't find a awnser for, i have a gtx 1050ti and my friend has a r9 280 that he doesn't need and he can give it to me, and i was wondering the web says the cards are kinda +/- identical, can i run then both and inprove my gaming experience or it wount work?

Can't run them both to work together, no.

Can't run them together, as they are just way different cards. Best you can with both cards in one system is running some software on one, some on the other. e.g. using the Nvidia card for NVENC recording software... But that is not a use case that makes sense and is kind of annoying to setup.

 

To be honest, it's probably better to either:

- Use the card in a secondary system

- Sell the card (of course you should make up your mind if you think that is the right thing to do, in terms of selling a gift and such..)

SLI is designed to use two of the same graphics card together.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

SLI (nVidia) = Crossfire (AMD) = having multiple graphics cards running in parallel = combined performance.

The requirement is the two (or more) cards MUST be identical...or for AMD, using the same physical GPU core.

 

You can run SLI on two GTX 1070 8GB cards.

You cannot run SLI on a GTX 1050Ti with a GTX 1060.

 

You can run Crossfire with two R9-280 / R9-280X.

You cannot run Crossfire with a R9-280 and a R9-270
