RTX 2070 Super or Radeon 5700 XT AE?

I want a graphics card upgrade and i have a budget of about 500€.

 

Originally i wanted to go with the 5700 XT AE.

But now Nvidia revealed their super line up. 

My only concern is: Which card is faster? Like raw non-rtx performance.

 

According to amd, the game frequency (eg the frequence to be expected during casual play) would be 1830 mhz for the XTAE (1980mhz boost clock), while the 2070 SP's boost clock would only be 1770 mhz. 

But there should be more to the speed other than the clock speed, ami right?

I would also care for more vram, but both cards feature the exact same vram, so it doesn't matter.

I don't care at all about the ray tracing feature by the way.

 

Which card would you recommend?

This way i would miss the ordering deadline for the XT AE. Then the 2070SP would be the faster card, even if the XT AE would be faster.

Then order the AE.  You really can't put the cart before the horse, you know.

Anniversary Edition makes even less sense than nVidia's Founders Edition.

 

I'd strongly advise against it, if you can pay the extra 50 bucks on top of normal 5700 XT's just go with the RTX 2070 Super from the get go.

Why would you advice against the AE edition?

 

 

Surely i can pay an extra 50 bucks to get the 2070 super. I am just concerned that i pay these 50 bucks extra and then get the slower card of these two.

The 5700XT AE is the same price as the 2070 Super, at $499 USD MSRP. The 2070 Super is a few % slower than a 2080(as shown by Gamers Nexus and LTT) and after overclocking, beats a stock 2080. The 5700XT is supposed to compete against a 2070 and a 5700XT AE is likely the same performance as an overlocked 2070. For the same price, the 2070 Super is probably a much better choice here

Besides, blower coolers in 2019? why? they are loud and inefficient and this comes from someone who regrets their 1080 Ti Founders Edition noise.

Okay, thank you. This sounds convincing.

 

Since the 2070 Super is not limitated, i will wait for a review. 

When do you think will they be available in Europe? I have literally just heard of them even existing in Anthonies video.

AE is just overclocked (and perhaps binned) 5700 XT. There's no need to buy one over a good AIB model

Look for benchmarks when they're released to compare.  It'll likely go to NVIDIA, if the past is any indicator; but there's no guarantee.

Other than saying wait for reviews I personally would go with the Navi option. The reasoning on this is even though they have similar performance and price the anti-lag and the sharpening features actually seem to be much more valuable than DLSS or raytracing. Again without reviews theres no way to know but thats my take on it.

Reviews of 2070 Super are out on LTT and Gamers Nexus. They come out July 23rd. Should be available on most major european e-tailers then
