What should I do

I will start going to a college next month but I can not decide what should I buy.

Should I buy a gaming laptop or build a gaming PC. Does college requires any work that needs laptop. I am a computer science student.

My budget is $1080 (₹75000 INR) For laptop and for PC is $750( approx ₹50000 INR).

Please suggest what should be done next.

You'll be bringing your laptop to uni a lot as CS student. It's probably not necessary, because you should be provided PCs for lab projects, but it's definitely much more comfortable doing everything in single device.

Laptop: Acer V3-772G  CPU: i5 4200M GPU: GT 750M SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB
DesktopCPU: R7 1700x GPU: RTX 2080 SSDSamsung 860 Evo 1TB

I don't know about the school you're attending but at least with mine, there were a few classes that technically required a personal laptop.

In my experience it's usually best to avoid having to rely on college-provided materials as much as possible. I'd buy a laptop in your situation.

Buy a refurbished thinkpad x250 or x260. They're cheap, sturdy and more than fast enough for studying CS.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Check with your college and program department web site. It is not uncommon to find suggestions / recommendations / requirements posted.

I think you should buy a cheap lenovo thinkpad and build a cheap-midtier gaming pc for fun (and also for doing heavy duty work).

The laptop can be helpful for things like group projects and also for working on assignments in school without having to save them to flash drives. (I guess you could learn to use git as well or something instead)

Some professors will do live demos in class and it's much easier to type along than trying to write it down by hand as you go. (Most probably will upload the finished work or even have videos but I've had one that refused to post notes or anything and the only way to get the code was by following along during class)

Thinkpad will probably be enough imo. One of my friends was in a group where everyone only had old thinkpads from work and they were able to make a full video game off it.
