Hello! After many years playing games on a laptop, it's time to make a change.
I trying to build gaming pc for around 1000$ (give or take few $).

For now I manage to "build" this.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 - 215$ - NEW

MB: Gigabyte B450 AORUS M - 125$ - NEW

RAM: DDR4 Kingston 16GB 3200MHz (2x8) - 130$ - NEW

STORAGE: SSD M.2 Kingston 480GB A1000 PCIe NVMe - 106$- NEW

PSU: Cooler Master MWE 650W Full Modular 80+ Gold - 126$ - NEW

CASE: Cooler Master Masterbox MB520 - 73$ - NEW

GPU: XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB - 210$ - secondhand

I appreciate any help.

Maybe any other mobo that can cost around 70-80usd that can perform about the same. Ssd is kinda meh if you want a M.2 I would advice get a NVME rather than Sata.

NVME vs SATA has no real world differences unless you move around large files often. SATA is good enough especially on a budget.

ie you're not gonna load games faster on SATA vs NVME, and price/gb is often 2x more on NVME than sata

Yeah that's why maybe a 2.5" will cost less than m.2 with a bit more work with cable management.

Cable management won't be too difficult, 2.5" bays are usually near the SATA ports on the motherboard and SATA power can be routed via the back panel from the PSU

It's hard to say whether you are getting a good deal, since it's hard to compare the pricing to what I see out here.

That said, this build has no compatibility issues, and will game high/very high settings at 1080p without issue :) (This is very similar to my personal build.)

Some XFX coolers are pretty good, and some are like jet engines. (Like avoid the FatBoy.) Which RX 580 model are you looking at?

Props on the PSU choice. Most who come through asking advice aren't wanting to go in on solid units.

Are there any particular retailers we could look at to see if any other deals could be finagled?

My opinion is that this system is good enough for 1080p gaming. For MB I didn't want to buy cheapest one because maybe in short future I will upgrade cpu so I can keep MB. For gpu XFX Radeon RX 580 8GB and it is secondhand, it will be enough for year or two and I will change it for better. Here is the link of gpu. https://www.olx.ba/artikal/33832958/graficka-kartica-xfx-radeon-rx-580-8gb-gddr5/

About PSU I went for CM because in stores (3 of them) don't have big options, mostly CM, Thermaltake and some other stuff. 650W 80+gold for few years will be okey for me.

There is mainly 3 sites/stores that are most popular in Bosnia for pc parts.

https://www.plus.ba/?is_published=1&price_min=0&price_max=10000&sort_by=published_at_desc&per_page=12&page=1

https://imtec.ba/

https://www.ue.ba/

I went for plus.ba store because they are the cheapest out of these there.

For now I will wait till 7 of July for Ryzen 3000.

Then we are in agreement! If 1080p gaming is your goal, this is a fine system.

That CM 650W Gold should honestly last you 5+ years (it may even have warranty through it.)

That XFX model will be just fine!

An R5 3600 would be a step up from the 2600, but I don't know what pricing and availability will be like out there.

I'll recommend something like this....

  1. Ryzen 5 2600
  2. 2x8 3000mhz ram
  3. ASRock b450 pro4 or MSI Tomahawk b450
  4. SSD - mx500 or 860 Evo or 660p or p1 (whichever is cheaper)
  5. PSU - A decent bronze/gold rated PSU like Corsair cx/cxm/RMx/TXM or Cooler master masterwatt/MWE.

SSD TIER LIST

CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X

Mobo - ASRock X470 Taichi

Memory - G.Skill Trident Z RGB (8x2 3200MHz)

Storage - Sabrent Rocket 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 2TBWD Black 1TB

GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti LIGHTNING

CaseFractal Design Meshify C

PSUSuper Flower Leadex II Gold 650W

Did you look at the proposed build?

  • 2600
  • 2x8 3200mhz
  • Aorus M (just as good as Pro 4 or slightly better.)
  • A1000 (comparable to p1)
  • MWE Gold 650W

... you recommend the build OP already posted, if not a downgrade in some small ways.
