Then you didn't try messing with GPU Thread count.

My 290X couldn't mine with an Intensity over 13 using -g 2 (2 GPU threads). However, using 1 GPU thread allowed me to push the Intensity to 20 and use Thread Concurrency 31952 (or something close to that, can't check my settings at the moment).

GUIminer is terrible. I know that from experience. I sat in Slush's IRC chat for hours back when I mined BTC on his pool, and every 15 minutes, someone would come in with GUIminer problems without fail.

cgminer is more technical, but it gives you more control, which I believe you should care about if you are going to mine at all.

What are the cards?

The 290X was just an example. Using less GPU threads doesn't necessarily mean it will not have HW.

290s

Ugh, the fickle one. (Talking about that GPU)

I remember now, you are the one I tried to help with that. Just remember: Higher TC doesn't necessarily mean higher hash rate, though it could.

What I would do is start with a single 290. Just disable the others. Then fine tune it to working with Intensity 20 and high TC, then just copy those settings for each card adding one at a time. Then fine tune each one.

That sounds like it'd be easiest.

So start with I 13, TC 31592 (I checked elsewhere), G 1, and nothing else on cgminer. Then up the intensity until you get HW if you don't get it with that config. Then, if you get to I 20 without HW, add another card and repeat for the new card while not messing with the old one. If you do get HW at some point, try changing your TC to 32567 and if that doesn't work, try switching back to TC 31592 and switching to G 2 (2 GPU threads).

You can change your Intensity in cgminer while it's running, but you'll have to restart it each time you want to change TC or G.
