Will a 2560x1080@75hz monitor work with DVI Dual-Link?

NunoLava1998

I was planning on getting a 1080p Ultrawide (2560x1080 21:9) 75hz IPS FreeSync monitor for my RX 570; it would be a pretty good upgrade from my current monitor.

However, I'm not completely sure if my cable (DVI-D Dual Link, no I can't change to HDMI or DisplayPort) can support 2560x1080@75hz. According to a random bandwidth calculator that I found this should consume 6.3Gbps and DVI Dual-Link says it's up to 7.4Gbps, so I think it should be okay. I just want to check though. This is the monitor I'm buying.  I'm going to use my current DVI-D Dual Link to HDMI adapter (amazonBasics, seems to be passive, good quality).

First make sure the RX 570 you have has a DVI-D connector that's Dual Link ... it's most likely Single Link, basically shared with the HDMI port.  Max 1920x1200.

The official page says No : https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/radeon-rx-570 (scroll down)

The passive DVI to HDMI adapters are all single link. You'd need a processor inside to convert the signal from two links into a single link HDMI 2.0 signal.

Would be faster and better to get a DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 adapter/converter.... you have those on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-DisplayPort-Adapter-Resolution-Converter/dp/B010SDZZ80/

Maybe a DisplayPort - HDMI cable would also work : https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-DisplayPort-Cable-Resolution-Ready/dp/B00Z05JMKO/

It is Dual-Link though.

If it's a RX 570 mining card, it's Single Link for sure. For mining cards, you could try removing the bracket, the footprints for DisplayPort and HDMI may still be on the circuit board and you may even have the surface mount capacitors and resistors installed, so just soldering a DisplayPort or HDMI connector to the board may enable that connector.

Otherwise...

It may have the physical connector shaped like that, but the actual contacts may not be connected to anything.

Just like you have pci-e x16 slots which have only 4 or 8 lanes connected to them.

It could be for higher compatibility with all the DVI cables out there (single link DVI cables still have the pins so they wouldn't enter the DVI connector if it's like the first one in your picture) and also because why stock two different DVI connectors?

Here's single link DVI cable with all pins... https://www.amazon.com/ICZI-Monitor-Plated-Single-Digital/dp/B01FM00NV8/

It's a RX 570 mining card, but I can't test since I don't have a monitor with dual link res/ref that single link wouldn't be able to carry

If it is single link though, I'll buy a GT 710

nevermind; I already have a card which has DVI Dual Link on it (geforce g100, incredibly shitty card but good for display output)
