Choosing open world - exploration - crafting game.

Kyatto

Hi guys, asked this before but now that the Steam sale is on i wanted to check again; i want a space exploration game to get lost in but with some specific features like freely exploring space, landing and flying on planets and if possible base/spaceship building, repairing etc. plus, it'd be great if there was something to hunt in said planets, i know i'm asking a lot but that's the kind of game i want, so far for space game i have these to choose from:

- Elite Dangerous

- Empyrion - Galactic Survival

- Space Engineers

- Starpoint Gemini Warlords

For open space i'm considering these ones:

- Green Hell

- Rust

- The forest

i wouldn't mind buying more than one game but don't want to get something too grindy and ultimately boring, if you have any other suggestions please go ahead.

the forest is a lot of fun. It's similar to rust in terms of being a survival game, but i've highly enjoyed it. It's somewhat short if you know what to do, but if you play it for what it is, it's a good exploration, survival game. The Long dark is also a lot of fun, but it's not entirely open-world. Areas are segmented to make loading easier. I think the overall size is larger than the forest, but another really cool survival game

Price wise, the first two and Rust are your best bets during the summer sale as they are the ones that don't see their current prices that often. Space Engineers is overpriced right now and should be put on your wish list until it hits around half what it is now(like it has done in the past). If it's something you think you might like though, then just buy it. That's what Steam knows you're gonna do anyway if you want to own the game.

Green Hell is at a historic low price but that doesn't mean it's worth the current price tag. It might be if you like that type of game however if your PC isn't at least mid range to high end, people are saying the fps is horrendous in that game. Rust is Rust. You either love it or hate it. It's current price is the best you'll see for a while because it hasn't been that low since literally last Summer sale. It's always been double that during other major sales. Is it worth its current price though? I'd say yes if you like that type of game. Just expect to be overpowered by people that have been playing the game for many years.

The Forest is a fun game and is at a very good price since it's historic low back in February of 2018. It used to hit $10.00 back then but ever since it's been updated with new content, it rarely sees less than $13.00. So at $12.00, it's a good pickup and worth around $15.00, maybe $20.00 if you've never played it.

As for the game play on the space games, I'm not exactly familiar with them so that element you're gonna just have to view on YouTube. Stranded Deep is at it's historic low price right now as well if you're into survival games like The Forest or Subnautica. Subnautica is an excellent game but pretty pricey right now considering it's been around $7.50 and FREE on the Epic Games store. It's overpriced now because of the new updates and DLC it now has. It's worth it's current price tag but if you're on a budget, should be picked up when it goes for a lower price.

Also, if you're really into survival games and crafting games and zombie games and games with dynamic weather and countless things to do with your creativity, 7 Days To Die is an excellent pickup right now. It's on sale at $10.00 pretty often but right now it's in between $10.00 and it's historic low(around $7.00) at $8.49 right now. The game is worth $20.00 easy.

FTL is also a game you might wanna get into from how you described space games. It's at just $2.49 right now. Mass Effect 2 is just $4.99 if you're into RPG's and third person shooters. It takes place a lot in space.

Astroneer also seems like something you'd enjoy. It's a bit pricey but I would think because it seems like it's exactly what you might be looking for. It's hit $16.00 before and most definitely won't hit that price or any sale price for that matter until this coming Christmas. Which is why they price it so high during this sale. They know whoever wants it is gonna pay whatever it is on sale for instead of waiting a half a year.

There's also Planet Nomads and Memories of Mars at half price right now. Seems close to what you described. Kerbal Space Program could also be something to look into.

That's all I got right now.

EDIT: Heat Signature is at 66% off right now. Another game that caught my eye.

For the space game, I've heard "No Man's Sky" is a good one since they fixed it.

For the survival&crafting I have a few favorites. "Stranded Deep" would probably come first.

Hi, thanks for the advice, i already got 7 days to die from a humble monthly from last year so that one's done; Stranded Deep looks just like the thing to keep me busy crafting and i'm a lot more convinced to go for either Elite Dangerous or Empyrion due to the discount.

Welcome. I also should remind you that Surviving Mars is 66% off right now as well. That's a near historic low(70% off). It fits your description as well. Planetbase is at a historic low right now too but it's a 2015 title. That's not to say it's a bad game though. Stellaris is another near historic low that takes place in space but I want to say it's more of a strategy game.
