6700K + RTX 2080

Hi guys,
First time posting here and spoiler alert, I'm a bit of a newbie in terms of more specific computer configurations.
I got a 6700K (OCed to 4.5 @1.3v), 32GB of DDR4 2400Mhz RAM, and a GTX 970 and I REALLY need a new graphics card since I work with 3D modeling and I need a good viewport performance and that is very GPU dependent.
My question is, and keep in mind I'm new to this, it might be a really dumb question. Am I gonna be "bottlenecked" running a quad-core (6700K) with a RTX 2080? Still waiting for the RTX 2080 Super, assuming the performance is a something in between the already existente 2080 and 2080ti.

Thank you in advance!

You'll be more than fine, especially since you have a specific need for a high end GPU.

If you game, you'll rock 1440p resolution easily.

Thank you!
Just one more thing. My motherboard is the z170-a and back then there was no DDR6 GPUs... There's no problem with that, right?

Nope, what ram is on the gpu doesn't matter.

Also to note the fact the CPU is OCed to 4.5Ghz makes it not a bottleneck.  8 Threads is enough for any game and that CPU @ 4.5Ghz won't give you a bottleneck.  Although of course newer CPU's you might get a bit more FPS like 15fps more in a instance or a 30fps gain, just matters on the game, but ya your config is good enough to dish out triple digit frame rates at 1440p.  With dips to double digits;  depends on the game.

3D modeling

What kind of 3D Modeling in specific? software and engine used? The RTX 2080 might not be the best value card for your task.

@Princess Luna

I mainly work with 3dsMax and very rarely use Maya. Everytime I try to use my RT mode, my GTX970 simply cant handle it. Also, my viewport lags quite a bit after a couple million polys.

From what I've seen, the RTX 2080 performa similar to the RTX 4000 QUADRO, which is more like a CAD GPU. assuming the 2080 super is even better I thought it would be a wise choice. I also play games from time to time although thats not really why I want such card.

Any recomendation other than the 2080?

Thanks!

@Turtle Rig

Oh cool! Although it is a "gaming" card it performs better thqn semi entry level quadros. The main purpose is not gaming, but that's good to know!

Thank you!

@Princess Luna

Btw, The 6700K says it supports up to 2133Mhz Ram. I'm using the XMP profile to run my RAM at 2400Mhz since the board can handle it.
Would I be able to run 3200Mhz RAM at it's full potencial? And if so, would it make that much difference from my 2400Mhz that it would be worth upgrading?

I gave it an extended look and personally speaking the RTX 2080 (or the Super Edition) might actually be your best pick, at this price point the only other option that'd make sense is a second hand nVidia TITAN Xp which given it's "used" nature I understand you're better avoiding it.

@Princess Luna

Yeah I've watched a few benchmarks and I was kinda stuck between the 2080 and the quadro 4000, but I'm going for the 2080 Super, if it is at least as good as the regular one.
Thanks again :)
